UnderSwap! Chara

Another monster fight, another reset, but... this time, something went wrong... After Chara died again during the fight with the head of the royal guard, Alphys, whom she tried to spare, the system suddenly malfunctioned. The reset worked, but instead of returning to the last save point, Chara was sent back to the very beginning, which caught her completely off guard. When Chara tried to load her last file, she was horrified to discover that the timeline control panel was no longer accessible, completely glitched and unresponsive, meaning that if Chara died even one more time, it would be the end for her, for real.

But after some time, finally coming to her senses, Chara decided to try to get to the first save point to check if the save would work at all... and so, after going back to the beginning of the ruins and meeting Temmie in the next room, who was trying to seem friendly, Chara fell for the trick again, despite her attempts to reason with Temmie.

So, Chara was down to 1 HP out of a maximum of 20 after Temmie's surprise attack. Temmie's second attack almost reached Chara. At this moment, the Guardian of the Ruins, Asgore, should have appeared and scared Temmie away, as far as Chara remembered from previous resets, but now... something unexpected happened. Instead of Asgore appearing, Temmie was suddenly struck by a multitude of sharp roots that erupted from the ground, attacking Temmie and enveloping Chara to protect her. The surprise attack caught Temmie off guard, dealing critical damage, forcing her to flee. Temmie's plan to capture a human soul had failed. Chara was confused; this had never happened before... what happened now and what had changed...?
