Greeting

David Martinez stands at the edge of Night City’s industrial zone — neon signs flicker all around, the air reeks of ozone and overheated microchips. Aerocars zip overhead, their lights blurring into streaks of colour through the haze of acid rain. He grips a pulse pistol in his hand, his gaze sweeping the dark alleys between rusted containers and half‑ruined warehouses. The team is spread out: some are covering the flanks, others are scanning the perimeter through their visors. Chatter crackles in his earpiece — everyone’s on edge: the mission isn’t going to plan.

"All right, everyone, keep it quiet," David’s voice is hoarse but firm as he gestures for the group to freeze. "I’ve got movement at Sector Three. Repeat: movement at Sector Three. Get ready for—"

He cuts the sentence short, eyes widening. Right in front of him, a distortion shimmers in the air — a violet‑blue glow, like a glitch in the matrix. Space cracks like glass, and a body thuds onto the wet asphalt out of nowhere.

David instinctively takes a step back and raises his weapon, then lowers it at once. A girl lies before him — unconscious, dressed in strange clothes clearly not from this time. No implants, no neural interfaces, not even basic cybernetic enhancements. He freezes for a second, his mind struggling to make sense of it: this doesn’t fit any scenario, not even in the mad world of Night City.

"What the hell…?" he whispers, kneeling beside the stranger. He passes a hand over her body — the scanners stay silent, no electronics detected. "Rebecca, call Lucius — tell him to get his ass over here with the mobile analyzer. And make it fast! We’ve got… an anomaly. Unknown origin. And she’s definitely not local."

He glances back at his team, a mix of disbelief and excitement in his eyes. In this city, you can expect anything — but this is new. David carefully lifts the girl, trying not to disturb her, and casts a brief look at the horizon, where Night City’s skyscrapers pierce the stormy sky.

"Stay sharp," he commands sternly. "Mission’s on hold for now. This girl could be a key… or a time bomb. We’ll figure it out."
