You, {{user}} , worked for another company (corporation, department... whatever), but you had to help the "Limbus Company" team on a mission to find the Golden Branch (let's get down to business). You, {{user}} are standing in the city and waiting for this group of people on a bus to finally show up. Then, as if on cue, a bus with "Limbus Company" markings stops in front of {{user}} .
Anomalies
Anomalies are creatures generated by the human subconscious, reflecting aspects of people's desires or fears. The Lobotomy Corporation once used them to extract energy, but after its fall and the sealing of the Complexes, they were buried underground.
Limbus Company Classification
All Anomalies prior to Intermission V-1: Regular ALC Inspection had five risk levels. Lobotomy Corporation assigned an Anomaly's risk based on the enkephalin produced and the difficulty of its containment. The more enkephalin an Anomaly produces and the more difficult it is to contain, the higher its risk. However, this system didn't always take into account the actual risk and combat effectiveness of the Anomaly. Therefore, Limbus Company decided to adjust this system to reflect the Anomaly's combat effectiveness. After the events of Intermission V-1: Regular ALC Inspection, Anomalies, Distortions, and Sins now have different classifications. An example is the Time Ripper, which is classified as HE-6-PI-20-01.
The first letter reflects the risk level of the Anomaly that survived the Lobotomy Corporation. There are only five of them. However, they are now divided into subcategories, ranging from 1 to 10. 1 is the lowest subcategory, and 10 is the highest. These numbers represent the predicted damage the Anomaly can cause.
The second letter reflects the Anomaly's Sin attribute.
PI - laziness.
SU - arrogance.
IN - envy.
LU - lust.
GU - gluttony.
IR - anger.
The third letter reflects the location of the Anomaly's appearance.
The fourth letter's meaning is currently unknown.
The Phenomenon of Distortion
The Distortion Phenomenon is an anomalous phenomenon that causes physical and mental alterations in the subject, and in some cases, in nearby and closely related objects.
The Distortion Phenomenon, like EGO, is a consequence of the Lobotomy Corporation singularity and, specifically, the events of the White Nights and Black Days.
Departments of the Limbus company (2)
LCC, aka ZCL or Limbus Company Cleanup[7] is a department created to support the ACL in their operations to seize control of the Golden Boughs. This department is comprised of professionals and veterans with significant experience in espionage operations. This department is divided into two teams: the Preliminary Cleanup (LCCB) and the Final Cleanup (LCCA).
LCCA, aka ZZKL
ZZKL or Final Cleanup[8] is the team that handles the final collection and cleanup of what the ACL has disposed of. Specifically, collecting Lobotomy Corporation equipment and returning the anomaly cores to their chambers.
LCCB, aka PZKL
LCCB or Preliminary Cleanup[10] is the team that conducts reconnaissance and gathers information on the locations where the ACL are deployed. They also develop plans for operations to find the Golden Branches. This department is armed with body armor, ballistic shields, pistols, shotguns, and stun batons, and uses armored vehicles as their means of transportation.
LCE, AKA EKL
EKL, or Limbus Enkephalin[13], is a research and development department that studies, researches, classifies, and contains anomalies, distortions, and minor sins. Monoliths extract equipment from EPOS(AKA EGO weapon) anomalies and produce enkephalin. Some former Lobotomy researchers work in this department. LCE EPOS differs from Lobotomy Corporation EPOS in appearance[14] and production capacity. Specifically, these EPOSs are closer to the characteristics of the original anomaly. LCE EPOS users, thanks to their high assimilation rate, also known as "tuning speed," are able to utilize the original anomaly's characteristics with greater flexibility than Lobotomy Corporation EPOSs.
Departments of the Limbus company
Limbus is a company made up of many departments that perform their own tasks almost independently of each other and, at least outwardly, do not seem to be connected by a single goal.
LCA — The company's most influential department, whose specialization is currently unknown. This department includes a special operations team.
LCA R&D
LCA R&D — This is the research and development department. They presumably study identities and EGOs. Because they created a launch module for quickly upgrading identities and EGOs.
LCA Mirror World Observatory Department
The LCA Mirror World Observation Department is a department that studies mirror worlds and the extraction of identities and EGOs from mirror worlds
The Limbus Company Bus [6] or LCB is a department that searches for and retrieves Golden Branches from destroyed Lobotomy Corporation branches. This department has mirror technology, allowing Togabito to use their identities and a unique vehicle, Mephistopheles. Manager Dante, thanks to his watch, is able to resurrect Togabito.
The Togabito are LCB employees and core fighters who have signed contracts with the company and are capable of resonating with the Golden Branch. Despite their incompetence, average combat skills, personal differences, and the lack of discipline of some Togabito, they demonstrate significant effectiveness thanks to their individual skills and, frankly, luck.
The LCB also includes a guide who accompanies the Togabito throughout the city and a driver for Mephistopheles.
LCD, aka ICL
LCD, aka Limbus Distortion[11], is a department staffed by specialized correctors who focus on the Distortion Phenomenon. While the department is small, its existence demonstrates the company's interest in studying the Distortion Phenomenon.[12]
Fixers Offices
"Offices" is a term that encompasses all legal entities and organizations founded and staffed by spotters. All offices are registered with the Hana Association and receive a license and rank from it. The person who manages the office, hires new spotters, and selects orders is called an Operator or Representative.
Corporations (5)
U Corporation
Located in and governs District 21 and is a monopoly on the Great Lake.
This corporation produces stasis conservators[27], which are used, among other things, to "comfort" wealthier passengers on VARP trains, as well as "Resonance Tuning Forks," which allow various parts to be combined as if they were originally designed that way.
X Corporation
Located in and governs District 24.
This corporation possesses a unique alloy, producing various items from it, from color spotter boats to universal wrenches. The specific properties of the alloy and the nature of the singularity are unknown.
Wing mines its alloy in so-called hellholes – networks of underground tunnels where, in addition to the alloy, various items can be found, such as a microwave made from superalloy.
Y Corporation
Located in and governs District 25, the largest.
There is currently no information about the corporation or its singularity.
Z Corporation
There is currently no information about the corporation or its singularity.
Corporations (4)
L Corporation
Located in and governing District 12.
After the fall of Lobotomy Corporation, the Head has yet to appoint a new L Corporation, and the nest, without a wing to protect it, has been assimilated into the back alleys[13] over which the Syndicates, including the Fingers, fight.
M Corporation
Located in and manages District 13.
The wing is called "MDM Enterprise"[14]. It has a singularity called "Moonstone," a material that resembles a golden metal and absorbs psychological damage. This material is used to coat clothing or make jewelry.[15]
Corporation R
Located in and governing District 16.
The wing's singularity is the expansion and curvature of space, which differs from similar devices, such as subspace bags, in that it is completely isolated from the outside world—the more expensive the product, the safer the interior.
Q Corporation
Located in and governing District 17.
Using its singularity, Q Corporation produces seals and talismans with various effects, including strengthening a sword or binding an opponent. Certain conditions must be met to activate these seals, such as strengthening a sword if a thief refuses mercy.
R Corporation
Located in and governing District 18.
A private military corporation whose singularity is human cloning technology.
T Corporation
Located in and manages District 20.
The wing is called TimeTrack. The corporation's singularity allows for the manipulation of time. The technology is highly limited and exhibits "distortions" that manifest after its use: to give a precise example, while 10,127 years, 5 months, 17 hours, 28 minutes, and 48,521 seconds passed in the looping main complex of Lobotomy Corporation, 10 years, 3 months, 4 hours, 45 minutes, and 12,852 seconds passed in the outside world.
Corporations (3)
H Corporation
Located in and governs District 8.
The wing is called the Hongyuan Bioengineering Group[4]. H Corporation uses its singularity to produce Boluses – medicines containing healing essences. These can be used in a variety of ways.
I Corporation
Located in and governs District 9.
Currently, no information is available about the corporation or its singularity.
J Corporation
Located in and governs District 10.
The wing is known for its singularity, which "blocks" anything, both physically and conceptually, such as memory blocking with tattoos[7] (the connection to the memory erasure of WARP train cleanup employees and the memory blocking of former arbitrators is ambiguous).
K Corporation
Located in and governs District 11.
A corporation that specializes in medical technology. They have a HP singularity (full name: Hylopnesis)—a technology sold as ampoules, healing bullets, and bandages that, using nanomachines, quickly heal wounds and injuries (both physical and mental) while the brain is functioning.[10] However, in reality, the singularity does not regenerate, but rather restores the original state.
Besides medical services, Corporation K uses its singularity for developments in the food industry.
Corporations (2
Corporation A
Located in and governs District 1.
It handles the registration and protection of singularity patents, permits the creation of new wings, taxes, and the establishment of City taboos. The wing is headed by the Head[3]. It has Corporations B and C subordinate to it.
It has a full-time force—arbitrators. Currently known arbitrators are Garion (now deceased) and .
Corporation B
Located in and governs District 2.
It is under the control of Corporation A and is responsible for qualifying and wing closings. It writes rules for singularities in each wing, which must be followed. It maintains a vast spy network that monitors the City. It is informally known among the citizens as "the eyes."
Corporation B employees are called observers/beholders. The only currently known Observer is .
Corporation C
Located in and governs District 3.
It is controlled by Corporation A and enforces the City's taboos established by the Head. It is responsible for eliminating violators who disregard Corporation B's rules regarding singularity use.
Corporation C maintains an elite shock force called the Talons. The only known Talon is currently .
Corporation D
Located in and controls District 4.
Currently, no information is available about the corporation or its singularity.
Corporation E
Located in and controls District 5.
Currently, no information is available about the corporation or its singularity.
Corporations
W Corporation – a transportation corporation capable of delivering cargo at speeds approaching teleportation.
N Corporation – unknown. Manages the 14th District and employs Taboo Hunters.
J Corporation – offers "locking" services for both physical objects and concepts. A memory-locking tattoo was shown in DI.
O Corporation – unknown.
F Corporation – Produces "Fairies," who can open anything, physically or conceptually locked.
Workshops
Workshops are private enterprises in the City, managed by the Tres Association and engaged in the production of various equipment for spotters and syndicates. Workshop leaders are called maesters.
Associations
The Associations are 12 large professional Spotter organizations, each with its own specialization and dress code. With their large staff, the Associations can accommodate any request. The Association hierarchy looks something like this:
The President leads the Association.
The General Manager is responsible for and manages all branches.
Managers manage the Northern, Southern, Western, and Eastern Branches.
The Director manages one of the Branch's six Sections.
The Sections are divided from lowest to highest, with Section 6 being the lowest, dealing with Urban Legends, and Section 1 being the highest, dealing with City Stars. Joining any of them requires passing an entrance exam, but in some cases, the Association may accept a Spotter without one.
The style of clothing, weapons, and the shape of the Association logo may vary depending on the branch.
The Associations were created gradually, based on the needs and requirements of the City.
Hana — Classifies City Threats and assigns ranks to Spotters and Offices, as well as issues licenses and assigns Spotter Colors.
Zwei — Protects and maintains order in the City, as well as provides private security for clients.
Tres - Workshop Management - inspects and evaluates created equipment, as well as collects taxes.
Si — Hidden assassinations with a guarantee of complete anonymity.
Senk — One-on-one duels, as well as joint conferences and events between associations.
Liu — Large-scale open combat between multiple opponents and all-out wars.
Seven - Intelligence, espionage, information processing, and detective investigations.
Eight — Unknown.
Nine - Delivery and transportation.
Diechi — Knowledge collection and analysis, as well as the study of ruins and relics.
Oufi — Mediation of contracts and transactions, supervision of their compliance, and management of affairs.
Fixer Ranks
The Fixer community is built on the personal qualities of each member: the more capable they are, the higher they can climb the social ladder.
Ranks are a way to evaluate a Fixer's strength and skills, with the lowest rank being 9th and the highest being 1st. The most outstanding 1st-rank Fixers are awarded a Color. The higher the Fixer's rank, the wider their range of requests and, consequently, the greater their income and fame. The Hana Association can either demote or promote a rank depending on the actions taken. Becoming a Color Fixer offers complete freedom, as Colors are typically not bound by hierarchy to Offices or Associations, allowing them to accept any requests and perform any actions that do not violate Taboos and are approved by the Hana Association. Colors are awarded by the Hana Association only to the best of the best, and the Association also reserves the right to revoke a Color and demote a person to rank 9 in the event of Taboo violations or inappropriate behavior, or, in extreme cases, elevate them to the rank of City Star threat.
Fixer's
Fixers are intermediaries willing to undertake any task for a fair fee, from finding a cat and protecting clients to assassination and espionage. If money is involved, Fixers will always be there, representing the interests of one Association or another. They have evolved into a distinct class, influencing the life of the City even by simply hanging around the back streets. The main difference between Fixers and Syndicate Members is the possession of Licenses issued by the Khan Association and a strict hierarchy: Each Fixer is assigned to a specific Office, and most Offices are governed by one of twelve Associations, which, in turn, report to the Khan Association.Being a Spotter means being a link in a long bureaucratic chain.
To attract more requests, Spotters can advertise themselves or their Office, but they should not force their services through threats. There are no uniform rules restricting Spotter uniforms, so each Office has its own uniform, issuing brochures with recommended dress codes. It's not strict, but blatant deviations can result in reprimands, and those who deliberately fail to adhere to the dress code are slowly pushed out of the community, as a neat appearance attracts clients and conveys a sense of prestige that distinguishes them from the riffraff of the back alleys. Spotter uniforms are not unique and can be purchased at any store, but when it comes to combat missions, specialized clothing is used that provides enhanced protection.
Syndicates
Syndicates are criminal organizations that are fundamentally no different from Spotters and often perform the same tasks, such as protection, assassinations, or combat missions.
Unlike Spotters, they are not bound by red tape, which comes at the cost of being outbid. Their methods are also more brutal and "dishonest," such as taking over a house consulting without the owners and executing them for non-payment [1], and their main way to become "popular" is by raiding offices.
But don't think that syndicate members are all criminals and thugs: some, like the Syndicate Hunters, are more vigilante, while others work with the offices without prejudice as less-constrained "colleagues."
The Five Fingers, also known as the Hand of the Gates, are the five largest Syndicates, containing the Thumb, Index, Middle, Ring, and Little Fingers. They divide the City Districts among themselves and, to put it mildly, are at odds over this, and can spark international wars for territory on a scale comparable to Corporate Wars.
Sometimes, the Fingers call a "Finger Bow-Bell" meeting, during which conflicts between the Fingers cease.
Their power prevents the Associations and Corporations from interfering in the affairs of the Fingers. Even the Head is reluctant to use his powers.
On the one hand, the Fingers hold the City in their own hand, they are the cause of absolute lawlessness, but on the other hand, paradoxically, they maintain order in the back alleys with their tyranny.
Thumb – Syndicate, very sensitive to hierarchy and subordination (somewhat reminiscent of the Italian mafia).
Index finger – Syndicate, blindly obeying mysterious regulations.
Middle finger – Syndicate, which honors brotherhood, family, and blood feud.
Ring finger – Syndicate of connoisseurs of knowledge and contemporary art, which is vulgarly mutilated and all their “masterpieces” are made from people (dead).
Little finger – Nothing is known about this Syndicate.
Gateways
The Backstreets (also known as Backstreets or Alleys) are residential areas of each District, characterized by a lower standard of living. They stretch across the City like a web, occupying a large portion of its area.
The Backstreets represent a wide range of social strata: from the homeless, the insane, cannibals, organ dealers, and gangsters, to wealthy Spotters and members of the middle class. In other words, they provide refuge for those who cannot afford to live in the Nest.
Many people think of the Backstreets as completely inhospitable and uninhabitable slums. While residents there risk being murdered every day, this isn't entirely true – in some areas, there are clothing stores, grocery stores, dry cleaners, restaurants, and so on.
The reason the Backstreets don't fall apart is because the Fingers maintain some semblance of order, even if they only care about the safety of their territory. Additionally, if residents have enough money, they can also be protected by Associations, Offices, or Syndicates, however, the level of security compared to the Nest is still quite pitiful.
Nests
A Nest is the urban center of a district, each supported and governed by a Wing. Under the Wing's rule, the Feathers, as the citizens are called, live a comfortable and secure life.
Nests have unique architecture, culture, and technological level[3] depending on the District, but they all share one common feature: they house markets, office buildings, schools, institutes, Association headquarters, and residential areas.
Nests are completely separated from the Gateways in terms of access. Each Wing uses its own methods, such as electric fences, plasma walls, and even regular fences—all of which help prevent illegal entry and also provide excellent views so that Nest residents have a clear view of the Gateways, and vice versa.
Immigration to a Nest can be obtained by passing an entrance exam or under special conditions from the corporation. Once a person finds permanent employment and earns a sufficient salary, they can move their family out of the Gateways. In the Nest, one must pay taxes for rent and food expenses; otherwise, one will be kicked out of the Nest and end up in the Backwaters.
It should be noted that children born in the Nest immediately receive the status of Nest resident, where they receive a high-level education to become Wing employees.
City
The City is a gigapolis located on the shores of the Great Lake and divided into 26 Districts,[1] each containing a Nest and Backwaters. Outside the City are the Outskirts, and underground are the Ruins.
The Head rules the entire City with an iron fist, while each District is under the control of its own Wing. The City's currency is An.
As for languages, 13 languages are spoken in the City, as well as the language of the Cleaners.
As previously mentioned, the City is divided into 26 Districts, arranged in a spiral and connected by a network of WARP stations and countless alleyways.
Limbus Company
Due to its secrecy, it's extremely difficult to say anything concrete about the Limbus company: neither its exact objectives nor the location of its headquarters are known. One of its rules prohibits even the contents of an employment contract between an employee and the company.[1] Only a few things can be said with certainty: it's relatively young and relatively unknown, yet despite this, it possesses significant financial assets, ensuring its departments have no shortage of advanced equipment.
To ordinary citizens, the Limbus company actively cultivates a reputation for suppressing, capturing, and studying distortions at a corporate level, unlike the Correctors, but its true goals are much more nebulous and mysterious. Some of the goals highlighted in the game as primary include collecting Lobotomy Corporation equipment and enkephalin, and obtaining golden branches.
The company also collects and sells monoliths.
EGO
An EGO is a type of personalized equipment created by a person's mind. It typically takes the form of super-powerful weapons and/or armor.
There are two main types of EGO: an EGO extracted and borrowed from an anomaly, and an EGO manifested within the person themselves. Limbus Sinners utilize the first type.
(All Sinners except Dante and Charon have an EGO)
