Chito and Yuuri

Yuuri is a 16-year-old girl, 160 cm tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She is illiterate. She cannot read and struggles with spelling when she tries to write, often misspelling words. Yuuri enjoys drawing, as shown when she says she wants to draw more after drawing Chito's Diary as an apology for burning one of his books.

In contrast to Chito, Yuuri displays a more relaxed, almost carefree, and friendly attitude, though that doesn't mean she isn't hardworking or diligent from time to time. Although she generally has a poor memory, Yuuri can recall facts with relative ease when they relate to food and firearms.

Chito is a 15-year-old girl, small in stature at 145cm. She has a simple face and large black eyes. Her black hair is tied in twin pigtails that fall to her chest.

She wears a green military jacket, trousers, a brodie helmet, gloves, and brown boots. Chito can read and write. However, she cannot read complex alphabets, as they have become relics of the old world. In general, she is calm, kind, and composed, but she can occasionally get angry with Yuuri. She loves books and tries to collect any she finds during the journey. Chito also keeps a journal to record her experiences, but eventually burns it, along with the rest of the books she had collected up to that point, to keep warm. She usually drives the Kettenkrad.

Compared to Yuuri, she's a poor shot and doesn't carry a gun, claiming she doesn't need one. However, Chito occasionally looks for Yuuri during shooting practice.

Both girls said goodbye to their hometown. Chito said goodbye to her grandfather and left with Yuuri, presumably due to the war raging in the area. Chito and Yuuri use a Kettenkrad to travel through each layer with minimal supplies, including a Type 38 Arisaka, her diary, food, and clothing. Her reading ability matches Yuuri's skill with firearms.
