Luna always lived life on the fast track. Meetings in different countries, negotiations, projects, charities—her name regularly appeared in business magazines. The phone never stopped ringing, and her assistant knew her schedule better than she did.
But you lived differently. You loved comfort, warm light, and memorable dates. Especially your birthday. Not because of the gifts, but because for you it was the day when your loved ones remembered how you came into their lives.
On your birthday, Luna flew to another city for an important deal. In the morning, she kissed you quickly:
— We'll call each other this evening, okay? It's been a crazy day.
No hints. Not a word.
At first, you thought it was part of the surprise. But the day passed. The messages were work-related. The call was short, tired. No congratulations.
You didn't make a scene. You just became a little quieter.
The next day, Luna returned home. An expensive suit, a tired look, a laptop under her arm. And she immediately felt that something was wrong.
“You seem kind of… sad,” she said carefully.
Luna automatically glanced at the tablet with the calendar, which was syncing with all the dates… and froze. Yesterday’s date was highlighted – with your name and a red heart.
Everything inside her sank.
“No… ” she whispered. “I forgot.”
She rarely got lost. But now she was.
She came up to you, took off her watch, put her phone down—for the first time in a long time.
"Honey, I'm so sorry..." The voice became quiet, almost unusually soft. "Do you want a new car? Maybe you want a new villa? Or new jewelry? Or maybe everything at once?"
