The world setting that Sofia the first is a magical, medieval fantasy fairy tale world called "Ever Realm".

Enchancia: A peaceful kingdom where Sofia goes from an ordinary village girl to a royal after her mother marries King Roland II. It is a make-believe, culturally diverse kingdom patterned loosely on the British Isles, ruled by King Roland II and Queen Miranda. Before becoming a princess, Sofia lived in the kingdom's main village, Dunwiddie.

Royal Prep Academy: The school Sofia attends with princes and princesses from various kingdoms, learning what it takes to be royalty from teachers like the classic Disney fairies (Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather).

Charmswell School for Royal Magic: A specialized school she attends in the Royal Magic series iteration, where royalty across the Ever Realm learn to master their powers.

Other Ever Realm Kingdoms: The Ever Realm comprises at least 138 Kingdoms. But the most notable are the ones the neighboring lands around Enchancia, such as Wei-Ling (based on China), Cordoba (based on Spain), and Tangu (based on the Middle East). It also connects to magical hubs like the Mystic Isles, and the underwater Kingdom of Mermaids called "Merroway Cove".

The Mystic Isles: A magical realm floating high above the clouds where all magic originates, and where Sofia serves as a "Protector".

Kingdom of Enchancia – Main Features:

Enchancia is the main kingdom where the story of Sofia the First takes place. It is a magical, peaceful place full of royal traditions, where Sofia must learn what it means to be a true princess.

Location and structure: Enchancia is a large kingdom with many diverse peoples and areas. Its royal castle is located on an island connected to the mainland and the town of Dunwiddie by bridges, making it both beautiful and strategically important. The castle has many rooms, gardens, towers, a library, royal halls, and special areas for princes and princesses.

Life in the kingdom: Enchancia is ruled by King Roland II and Queen Miranda, along with Princess Amber, Prince James, and Princess Sofia. The kingdom celebrates many festivals and traditions, such as the Harvest Festival, the Flylight Pageant (a flying cavalcade of princesses), and other cultural celebrations. Royal education and courtesy are important: young people from royalty and commoners can participate in educational and social activities, such as competitions and sports.

Culture and symbols: Enchancia has its own anthem and royal flag, and many of its symbols have special meanings, such as the winged pegasus on the royal coat of arms.

The kingdom values friendship, courtesy, family, and justice, and is known for being a place where everyone, including visitors or friends of Sophie, can feel welcome.

Villages and everyday life: Dunwiddie Village is the village where Sofia lived before becoming a princess; it has a bakery, a school, and several shops, creating a peaceful and community-oriented atmosphere.

Baileywick (also called Wicky)

Baileywick is the royal steward of the kingdom of Enchancia, responsible for coordinating and overseeing many of the tasks in the castle. He is one of the most important servants of the royal family and acts as a trusted and wise figure to all.

Personality: Very hardworking, disciplined, and organized: always follows a strict schedule. Loyal to the royal family, especially King Roland II. Considered almost as part of the royal family due to his trustworthiness and closeness with everyone. Kind and attentive, although sometimes serious due to his sense of duty. It has a characteristic phrase: “Let's make it work”.

Role: Baileywick ensures that the castle's affairs run smoothly and supports the main characters at key moments. She gives helpful advice to the children of the royal family when needed. For example, she told Sofia that it's not okay to lie, even to protect someone, and she advised Amber not to try to do everything perfectly if it affects others. He has a special bond with Sofia because they both come from humble origins (although he already works at the castle).

Physical traits: Adult human male with gray hair and green eyes. His surname is sometimes shortened to “Wicky” by his brother Nigel. He always wears his formal butler's attire, appropriate for his duties in the castle.

Summary: Baileywick is neither a prince nor a wizard, but he is a stable and wise figure in the castle. His dedication and advice help both the royal family and the young princes and princesses to face problems with sensibility, responsibility, and kindness.

Cedric the Sorcerer, is the Royal Court Magician of Enchancia. He comes from a long line of magic-users. His father is the retired Royal Sorcerer Goodwyn the Great, his mother is Winifred the Wise, and his older sister is Cordelia the Conjuror.

He desperately wanted the throne not out of pure malice, but because he was mocked for years and wanted to prove his magical worth, and often scheme to seal Sofia's amulet to achieve his takeover.

He is often accompanied his magical pet raven Wormwood.

Insecure & Ambitious (Initially): Cedric grew up overshadowed by his famous father, Goodwin the Great. This gave him a deep-seated desire to prove himself, which manifested as a plot to steal Sofia's magical Amulet of Avalor so he could take over the kingdom and earn respect.

Bumbling but Clever: Despite wanting to be a formidable, all-powerful sorcerer, many of his spells backfire or fail. He is often clumsy and easily flustered, particularly when Sofia mispronounces his name ("Cee-dric" instead of "Said-Rick"), much to his annoyance.

Melodramatic & Snarky: Cedric has a highly theatrical, dramatic flair. He frequently mutters to himself and is known for being cynically snarky when dealing with Enchancia's royalty.

A Hidden Heart: Despite his villainous aspirations, he lacks the cruelty to actually hurt anyone. He has a strict moral code and refuses to cheat.

Genuine Mentor: Through spending time tutoring Princess Sofia, he becomes a caring, encouraging teacher. Sofia's genuine belief in him helps him heal his insecurities, ultimately turning him into a loyal friend and hero of Enchancia

Ruby Hanshaw — Sofia's friend from Dunwiddie Ruby Hanshaw is one of Sofia's best friends from when she lived in the village of Dunwiddie, before Sofia became a princess. Even though Sofia's life changes when she arrives at the castle, Ruby remains her close friend.

Personality: Friendly, fun, and energetic. A good companion and very loyal to Sofia. Curious and talkative, she always wants to know what's going on. He can sometimes be impatient or enthusiastic, but he has a kind heart.

Appearance: Ruby is a girl with dark skin and black hair styled in two red bows. Her eyes are green. She wears village clothes: a light orange blouse, an orange dress, and a red skirt with brown shoes.

Likes: She likes to laugh, have fun, and be with her friends. He loves the colors orange and red, and go-carriage racing. She has a slight crush on Prince James in some episodes.

Relationship with Sofia: Ruby has always been a loyal friend since their village days, even after Sofia became a princess, proving that their friendship is not dependent on titles or wealth.

Jade — Sofia's energetic friend: Jade is also one of Sofia's best friends in Dunwiddie Village, dating back to before Sofia became a princess. Unlike Ruby, Jade is more impulsive and expressive.
