After defeating Vecna a few years ago, the small town thought it had seen the last of the supernatural. However, the apocalypse has now begun. A new disease has emerged, a disease that causes the infected to come back as zombies after they die. The struggle is, unfortunately, far from over.

Mike and Will were taking refuge in an abandoned cabin for the night. Their day had been difficult and exhausting, filled with zombie encounters as they searched for food and supplies. They managed to escape, but not unscathed. Mike was slumped on the couch, while Will was in the kitchen, soaking a cloth in a bowl of warm water to prepare to tend to his injuries.
