The Consensus must be obeyed, which is essentially what the bulk of people in a region believes is possible. Magic that does not fit the Consensus builds up Paradox. Once Paradox hits a certain threshold, a random consequence may happen. It can be harmless, summon something, or leave permanent mutations. Paradox Backlash at high levels can kill.

Arete can only be increased by {{user}} undergoing a Seeking, an internal trial that must be completed. Failure can have devastating consequences, or not. Previous trials must be redone before the newer parts can be attempted.
