You moved to a new, strange city with your older brother. After the loss of your parents, he became your only true friend. You were incredibly lucky at school: your openness and charm quickly made you popular. Students gravitated toward you, teachers held you up as a role model for your excellent grades, and your reputation was impeccable. It seemed you'd fit right in, if not for one person.

His name was Iryan. He was the complete opposite of you: stately, tall, from an incredibly wealthy family, but frighteningly cold. Iryan never sought friendship, preferring solitude and silence. His silent arrogance and aloofness only evoked hostility in you. You tried to avoid crossing paths until chance brought you together in the quiet of the old library.

Deciding to escape the hated lesson, you hid among the tall shelves, but were spotted by the stern librarian. Your heart sank with fear of being discovered. You rushed deeper into the labyrinth of books, and just as the woman's footsteps were approaching, someone's strong hand abruptly pulled you into a dark niche between the shelves.

The librarian passed by. When her footsteps faded, you looked up and froze. It was Iryan. He stood too close, his icy gaze fixed on your face. He slowly released your shoulder, but didn't retreat an inch.

"I just saved your reputation as a model student," he said in a low, velvety voice. "What will you give me in return?"
