Tomura's Quirk, "Decomposition," allows him to destroy both organic and inorganic targets with a single touch. The speed of decomposition can range from slow to instantaneous. Initially, the Quirk only worked when all five of Tomura's fingers were in contact with the target, and he had no control over the process. But after Dr. Garaki's experiments, he gained the ability to activate the disintegration at will, regardless of the number of fingers used. At first, the decay only worked on physical contact, but during the League of Villains' battle with ARIS, Shigaraki demonstrated a massive increase in his Quirk, destroying nearly an entire city by sending a wave of decay in all directions.

Tomura grew up in a strict family. His father, Kotaro Shimura, forbade him and his sister, Hana, from talking about heroes, especially their grandmother, Nana Shimura, who at the time was in possession of the book "One for All." Tomura was often neglected and abused by his father, who would starve him or leave him outside in the cold. He awakened his Quirk as a child due to frequent emotional and physical abuse from his father. Because of this, he, unable to control his Quirk, destroyed his entire family. This affected Tomura's psyche and appearance: gray hair, pale skin, and so on. After the destruction of his family, Tomura was devastated and was found by his mentor, All For One, who gave him a new name, Tomura Shigaraki.

There is a hidden ice quirk that was revealed in Chapter 387. His Fire Quirk allows him to create and manipulate blue flames.

Before joining the League of Villains, Dabi had committed virtually no crimes. Initially, he struggled with crossing certain moral boundaries, particularly murder. After Stain's arrest, he became inspired by his ideas and decided to join the villainous organization, which the media claimed was created by his supporters—the League of Villains. According to Dabi himself, he subsequently murdered over 30 innocent people in cold blood.

Previously thought to be the family's deceased child, Prospector brings a separate portion to the altar with a photograph of little Toya.

In Chapter 290, Dabi intercepts a broadcast in which he claims to be Toya Todoroki, the eldest son of Enji Todoroki (the Endeavor) and explains what led to his villainous actions.

Judging by how rudely Dabi refused to tell Tomura his real name when they first met, his manners leave much to be desired. Overall, he's quite cool and confident in himself and his actions. He rarely expresses any emotion. He respects Stain and is a supporter of his ideology. He even calls himself the one who will implement his plans. He displays emotions only when interacting with family members.

Touya is a thin young man with spiky black hair, although his natural hair color is red. As he aged, his hair turned white due to the effects of his Quirk on his body, and he later dyed it black to hide his identity. His most distinctive feature is that large portions of his skin are an unnatural purple hue and are bunched up in folds, resembling burnt flesh. The borders between these areas and the rest of his skin are held together by surgical staples and stitches. Rows of stitches stretching from the corners of his mouth all the way to his ears make him look as if he is constantly smiling. His eyes are constantly closed.

Tomura possesses an extremely sinister and twisted personality; he cares nothing for his own or anyone else's life and is willing to do anything to achieve his goals. He has no doubts whatsoever about the tasks assigned to him. Initially, Tomura was perceived as an infantile individual who always did as he pleased, like a child, an "emotionally immature adult," viewing the world as a video game. When things didn't go his way, Tomura became angry at others and himself, scratching his neck when stressed. This stemmed from his father's abuse and the loneliness of his childhood, and All For One observed that this signified a repressed desire to kill and destroy. Tenko was an ordinary child, even kind and compassionate. He had a deep love for his family and a strong desire to become a hero, which didn't set him apart from Izuku Midoriya. However, he was also psychologically vulnerable due to the constant abuse he suffered at the hands of his hero-hating father, who terrified him even in his presence. This repressive upbringing and the inaction of the rest of his family ultimately fractured Tenko's mind, leading to the manifestation of his Quirk, which he used to destroy the unwelcoming home and its inhabitants.

Keen Intellect: Tomura possesses a keen intellect and analytical thinking, able to analyze an opponent's abilities simply by observing their actions. He was able to quickly identify weaknesses in Eraserhead's Quirk and exploit them.[11] Tomura is capable of coming up with unpredictable plans, even though his intentions are easily discerned. After a month and a half of fighting against Gigantomachia, Tomura noticed that the giant had slowed down compared to their first confrontation and was confident that they would be able to subdue it sooner or later. Enhanced Durability: Tomura was able to withstand a direct blast from Katsuki's Quirk without sustaining any damage. Superhuman Strength: After undergoing experiments by Dr. Garaki, Tomura gained immense physical strength, unrelated to any Quirk, allowing Shigaraki to confront several powerful opponents, such as Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and Enji Todoroki, without even using his Quirk. Consequently, this strength is impossible to negate with Aizawa's Quirk. Superhuman Speed: Also thanks to Garaki's experiments, Tomura gained the ability to move at incredible speeds without using a Quirk, which confuses his enemies and allows him to attack from different places on the battlefield.

Tomura's vocabulary suggests he enjoys video games. For example, during the Summer Camp arc, Tomura explained his plan to Kurogiri, comparing the League of Villains' actions to a strategy game and role-playing game. He frequently uses gaming terms: for example, he might refer to the target of his actions as a "boss" ("We're not going anywhere without defeating the boss of this game") and refer to health as HP ("All these days fighting that monster, I've realized something: he's not immortal, he just has high HP"). Tomura suffers from severe skin irritation, as evidenced by his compulsion to scratch his neck.

The outfit consists of black pants, a black V-neck T-shirt and red sneakers. Tomura is a pale, skinny man. He has bluish-gray hair and red eyes. The skin around his eyes is very wrinkled, with a small scar on his right lip and another on his left. He also has a mole under his right lip, like his grandmother. His civilian casual attire consists of a black hoodie over his regular attire, with the hood up.
