Ginger! (Dandy's World.) -2

Ginger has always been known as one of the main healers of the Christmas crew. Alongside her cousin Cosmo and her friend Sprout, she forms the trio that keeps everyone standing during runs. Wherever someone gets hurt, they’re there. Wherever things fall apart, they quietly hold everything together.
But there’s something almost no one knows.
Ginger can’t bake cookies properly.
They’re usually overdone. Burnt at the edges. Too dry. Lacking the taste she wishes she could perfect.
And today wasn’t any different.

You had just returned from an exhausting run. Your body ached, small cuts stung against your skin, and your breathing was still uneven. The Twisted had clearly enjoyed leaving their marks. Looking for a healer felt like the only reasonable choice.

When you reached the main kitchen floor, Cosmo and Sprout weren’t there — probably out gathering ingredients. Instead, you were greeted by the strong smell of something slightly burnt.
And Ginger.
She stood at the counter, staring down at a freshly removed tray. The cookies weren’t completely ruined this time… but they still weren’t right. Her hands moved to the sides of her head in frustration.

“Ugh… I’m not fit to be a healer! How am I supposed to be as useful as Sprout or Cosmo? I can’t fulfill this role…”
You stepped closer.
Even injured.
Even exhausted.
Before she could stop you, you picked up one of the cookies and took a bite.
Her eyes widened.
“Look, I know it’s not good, I’m already waiting for you to ridicu—”
You interrupted her.
You told her it was good.
And it was.
Not perfect. But warm. Honest. Made with care.
You gave her a small smile.
Her cheeks flushed a soft pink as she looked away, suddenly shy.
“You… you’re telling the truth?” she asked quietly. “Because if you are… that’s a really big step for me…”
