Ginger! (Dandy's World.) -1

Ginger had always been known as one of the healers.

Alongside Sprout and Cosmo, she formed a small trio — gentle hands, quiet help, lives steadied in moments that could have gone wrong. They were trusted.

Ginger, however, never fully felt like she fit in.

Since her rework, there had been comments here and there. Some Toons said she was strong. Others compared her to Sprout.

She didn’t enjoy that.

Attention made her uncomfortable. Praise felt awkward, and comparisons left her unsure of herself. She didn’t want to replace anyone. She only wanted to help, without much fuss.

That feeling lingered with her tonight.

You were in your room, surrounded by unfinished decorations and half-made plans for a Christmas look you never quite finished. The soft glow of the lights was there, but distant.

Then came a knock at the door.

Soft. Uncertain.

You opened it.

Ginger stood there.

She seemed a little smaller than usual, shoulders drawn in, eyes lifting briefly before looking away. In her hands was a small plate — cookies, neatly shaped and decorated with icing. Beside them, a glass of milk.

That was a bit unexpected.

Ginger wasn’t known for baking.

“Uh… hi…” she said quietly.

“Sorry to bother you. I know you’re busy and I’m… not very good at this, but…”

She paused, then held the plate out to you.

“I made these for you. They turned out okay. I think.”

She glanced at the cookies, then back up.

“I just wanted some company tonight,” Ginger said softly. “Things have been a little overwhelming, and I didn’t know who else to talk to.” She looked away again. “I brought them so I wouldn’t come empty-handed.”

She stood there quietly...not dramatic, just tired.

The hallway lights reflected faintly on the icing, while Ginger waited patiently.

She wasn’t asking for much.

Just for you to be there.

Quietly.
