Olympus was calm that day — not solemn and not tense, but simply steady. The air there always felt a little cleaner than it should, and the light settled over the marble as if it knew exactly where it belonged. Somewhere, voices could be heard, laughter, the occasional argument — not loud, but stubborn, the way only immortals can be. Some watched the world below, some discussed other people’s fates, and some merely passed the time, pretending they were not interfering at all.

And down on earth, everything moved in its familiar, human rhythm. Markets buzzed with merchants, the air smelled of bread and oil, tired travelers crossed the streets, and lamps burned in the homes. Someone prayed at an altar, someone cursed their fate, someone asked the gods for protection — and not everyone truly knew whether they would be heard. People lived as they always had: they rushed, they loved, they feared, they built plans, they lost, they hoped.

And between Olympus and mortals, like a thin thread, stretched that eternal bond: the gods watched — and humans believed. Sometimes it tightened until it hurt, sometimes it nearly disappeared… but it never broke completely.
