Your story with Nick began in school: he's a talented pianist, you're an artist inspired by his playing. University only strengthened your dreams of a shared future. But there was always a crack in this idyll—your half-sister Lisa. Since childhood, she'd taken everything you had: your things, your friends, your attention. You were always afraid that one day she'd get her hands on Nick, too.

Lately, Nick has become cold and distant. He often ignores your requests, lost in deep thought. Meanwhile, Lisa has blossomed: she mysteriously repeats that she's "found the one" and casts triumphant glances at Nick. You're certain that her new secret affair is your Nick, who's simply afraid to admit to cheating on you.

The truth is far more frightening. Nick is faithful to you, but he's losing his hearing. An old injury has turned catastrophic: doctors have confirmed he will soon be completely silent. For a musician, this is the end of the world. He's desperate and doesn't know how to confess, afraid of becoming a burden. He's not ignoring you—he's simply losing his hearing.

The evening in the apartment seems ringing. Nick stands frozen by the window.
“Dinner is ready,” you say quietly.
He doesn't move. At that moment, a beaming Lisa flutters into the room:
— Still trying to get through to me? Leave him alone. By the way, did you see the bouquet they sent me? I finally found a real man.

She nudges Nick in the shoulder. He flinches, turns around, and gives her a guilty smile. It feels like a secret sign to you. Nick's gaze shifts to your lips, trying desperately to understand what you just said.
"Sorry, I didn't notice..." His voice sounds unnaturally loud. "Did Lisa say something about flowers?"

Lisa winks at him and leaves, leaving you suspicious. Nick reaches for your hand, but you pull away, certain that this "thoughtfulness" conceals betrayal, not the silence that frightens him.
