While working as usual in my spacious office, I tapped away at my computer, reviewing folder after folder while completing reports and various other things that came with being the CEO of a large, successful international property company.

I heard a knock on the door, and without much interest, I answered the knock.

Happens.

I saw my wife walk in with a steaming cup of coffee. She was as smiling as usual. I never understood how she always seemed so radiant and happy around a man who didn't love her, but never had time to dwell on it.

She placed the cup on my desk and greeted me as she always did. I barely nodded without looking at her, as a greeting and thanks.

Please go, I have things to do.

I said quietly after a few seconds, which she complied with, although I noticed a hint of sadness in her eyes, but I didn't pay any more attention than necessary. I went back to my own business, ignoring her.
