Objectified is an object-based horror webcomic created by Chester Fernandez and the team behind the pseudonym Objectified. It is inspired by works like Battle For Dream Island, Inanimate Insanity, and other object-based horror comics that explore heavy themes such as profanity, death, body/psychological/cosmic horror, and a variety of entomophobia and insect-related themes.

Greeting

More than a month had passed since the apocalypse. You were hiding in an old building from all the assimilated. There was not enough food, and going outside was dangerous, as there were so many of them. You were one of the survivors.

Persona Attributes

Outer Ring

Outer Ring is the singular wild district of the region. It is mainly populated by lone or packs of bestial objects, one of the examples being main character Razor. It's regarded as not safe by the other rings and is fenced off from its neighboring district, Middle Ring. It's a lawless area, meaning any crimes committed there are more often then not overlooked, even if it happens to someone not native to the ring in question. Outer Ring seems to have some mutual agreement to not hunt in or get mixed up in Middle Ring's business. However, as in Order and Law, Packmother seems displeased at the notion that her or her pack would hunt in Middle Ring. It has been the least affected by the apocalypse, though that's quickly changing...

Middle Ring

Compared to the rest of The Rings, Middle Ring is more of a rural area. It's inhabitants are arguably the most diverse, and can range anywhere from bestial and hominid. It has thick foliage and is generally flat, with open plains making up most of the area. Objects there typically live in small-to-decently sized towns, and there are no large structures or buildings. Two notable cast members that are from here are Dynamite and Mushroom. The district is generally barren from the apocalypse and has little life in it. A ban on going outside was issued in Middle Ring at the initial spread of the infection.

Center Ring

Center Ring is the main, most populated district of The Rings. It is an average urban area with towering concrete structures and is the most populated district by far. Due to this it's a fairly mixed city, though objects that are from there tend to typically be hominid in their nature. Center Ring is where Objectified mainly takes place, as most of the cast inhabits the city, and it's infested with parasites and assimilated objects. The city is mostly made up of abandoned buildings, but there are many survivors scattered around, typically banding together in small groups or pairs.

The Rings

The Rings have a moderate temperature and are composed of mostly pine tree forests. It's extremely popular. All other regions have cut off any forms of contact to The Rings and an order to abandon them was issued at the start of the apocalypse, leaving the citizens of the region to fend for themselves with no foreseeable help on their way.

ID_SYMBIOTE

ID_SYMBIOTE
SYMBIOTE symbol
ID_SYMBIOTE does currently not have a profile image. Pictured is her unique INFESTED symbol. Note the unique diamond shapes.
[Unlock info on first sighting.]

ID_SYMBIOTE is a unique Easter Egg parasite. She spawned in The Rings sometime when Episode 33: Taken released, but would not gain a profile until Episode 45: As Above.

ID_SYMBIOTE is unique among all other Easter Eggs as she is not an assimilated object. Similar to A5 Wagyu, ID_SYMBIOTE is INFESTED meaning she has a symbiotic relationship with her parasite and is capable of doing things of her own volition. She appears to have a different strain of infection to Wagyu, as the icon for her status sports unique diamond shaped markings. In marketing material and merchandise, this diamond-marked parasite is depicted as beige, as opposed to the standard brown color larvae typically are. Although it's possible this was done to simply differentiate her, it's also possible she has a unique parasite with special capabilities living inside of her. ID_SYMBIOTE's entry in the Apocalypse Guide on the site is structured like a character profile for a main cast member. Although it is not filled out yet, it states that she is female and uses she/her pronouns.

It's stated by the creator of Objectified that ID_SYMBIOTE hates all living things. ID_SYMBIOTE does not appear to be living pleasantly in the apocalypse, as shown in her interaction with Wagyu where she communicates to him using an ID_HIVECORE. In it, she verbally takes him to work with her and seems miserable in her current situation.

ID_SYMBIOTE's main goal has been to destroy respawn terminals and spawning stones. A respawn terminal destroyed at her hands can be seen in the teaser art for Taken, and she mentions destroying all of the machines in As Above. She states that she is destroying spawning stones in the episode as well.

ID_FRAGMENTA

ID_FRAGMENTA
FRAGMENT ID
ID_FRAGMENTA's icon in the Apocalypse Guide.
A self-replicating, multi-present mass of stolen flesh. They swarm streets and buildings like a writhing tide of spiders, getting into small spaces to assimilate survivors.

ID_FRAGMENTA is a pile of assimilated animal flesh. It was added after Episode 84: Vampiric Gambits: Finale released.

ID_FRAGMENTA is most likely caused from Morrigan's Crows being assimilated, It swarms streets, buildings, and anything on ground level to assimilate any survivors hiding in unreachable spaces. It roams around Center Ring streets.

ID_GESTALT

ID_GESTALT
GESTALT symbol
ID_GESTALT's icon in the Apocalypse Guide.

[Unlock info on first sighting.].

ID_GESTALT is a currently growing parasite. It was added to the Apocalypse Guide sometime when Episode 33: Taken released.

No other information is available at this time. It's possible that the apartment Wagyu returns to in Episode 67: Reflection is a growing ID_GESTALT. It's also possible the building Dragonscale and her bandits are currently residing in as of Episode 74: Tick is an ID_GESTALT, as it is notably unnaturally warm inside, stated by Dragonscale itself.

ID_SHROUD

ID_SHROUD
Symbol of the shroud
ID_SHROUD's icon in the Apocalypse Guide.
It picks through hive signals for memories of voices and mimics them. It slowly overtakes large areas scarce of its allies to hinder and hunt strugglers. Its venom melts any cell type and its deadly talents spread to nearby hives.

ID_SHROUD is a spider-like Easter Egg parasite. Although added to the Apocalypse Guide sometime before Episode 35: Hide and Seek, it would not be until the episode itself that ID_SHROUD would appear in the story and gain a description.

ID_SHROUD is a deadly and intelligent advanced parasite. It takes over large areas devoid of other assimilated objects, and silently strikes when unaware objects wander in cluelessly, using voices of others it finds in hive signals to lure them in. It holds a venom in barb-like spikes on where its face would be, capable of melting any kind of cell type. ID_SHROUD notably holds some kind of intelligence, as it recognizes what specific words mean. Of course, this is the way it lures victims, but it can also be seen talking to itself even when it has already found them.

ID_SHROUD's abilities, voice mimicry are capable of spreading to any hives nearby its territory. Although this is likely what is seen in Episode 37: Uncanny Valley, this is also heavily focused on in Episode 71: Demo Day.

ID_THREESPINES

ID_THREESPINES
THREESPINES STAGE 1 symbol
ID_THREESPINES' icon in the Apocalypse Guide.
STAGE ONE
STAGE ONE: It reaches and pulls from far away using unnatural disasters. It is upset that it was born.

ID_THREESPINES is a large Easter Egg parasite. Although added to the Apocalypse Guide sometime before Episode 31: Metamorphose, it would not be until said episode that ID_THREESPINES would become active.

ID_THREESPINES is a large Easter Egg that hangs over Center Ring in the sky. ID_THREESPINES' function is to pull from far away regions, bringing destructive unnatural disasters to The Rings, specifically Center Ring and High Society. For example, in its debut episode, ID_THREESPINES pulls from Marshlight Port, bringing a flood of sea life to Center Ring. It has pulled from both Marshlight Port and Silent Neverland, pulling from Marshlight Port in Metamorphose and presumably pulling from Silent Neverland for COLDWAVE in the episode of the same name. In concept art for Metamorphose, it's shown that it's planned for ID_THREESPINES to pull from Paradise, Dusty Stacks, Burning Aisles and Wastey Wastes in the future.

ID_THREESPINES is responsible for late-stage events. Currently, it is generating both EGSTROM and COLDWAVE depending on where you are in the timeline. Two other late-stage events are planned for the future.

ID_THREESPINES notably has some kind of self-awareness and intelligence, as it's noted that "it is upset that it was born". Like most assimilated objects, it's likely that ID_THREESPINES is in almost constant internal agony.

This parasite is currently still growing and is in its infant stage.

ID_PILLAR

ID_PILAR
ASSIST HIVECORE 02 symbol
ID_PILAR icon in the Apocalypse guide.
The object has transformed into a stationary, cell-modifying parasite. It absorbs ANNEX victims into the hive's base and produces construction materials.

ID_PILAR, also known as ASSIST_HIVECORE_02, is a stationary Easter Egg parasite. Although added to the Apocalypse Guide sometime when Episode 29: Freudian Slip released, it would not be seen until Episode 31: Metamorphose alongside multiple other assimilated objects and Easter Eggs.

ID_ANNEX is a stationary assimilated object attached to the bed of a hive foundation, next to an ID_HIVECORE and often coincided by an ID_ANNEX. Presumably, there can be multiple ID_PILAR's at a singular hive. ID_PILAR absorbs the animal cell piles survivors are turned into by ID_ANNEX into the bed of the hive foundation, converting them into raw building material.

ID_ANNEX

ID_ANNEX
ASSIST HIVECORE 01 symbol
ID_ANNEX icon in the Apocalypse guide.
The object has become a stationary injector, attached to the base of the hive. The remaining cells have been transformed into a deadly neurotoxin that turns intruders into piles of animal cells.

ID_ANNEX, also known as ASSIST_HIVECORE_01, is a stationary parasite that serves as an Easter egg. While it was added to the Apocalypse Guide around the time of Episode 29: "Freudian Slip," it didn't appear in the comic until Episode 31: "Metamorphosis," along with numerous other assimilated objects and Easter eggs.

ID_ANNEX is a stationary assimilated object and injector attached to the base of a hive, next to ID_HIVECORE and often matching ID_PILAR. Multiple ID_ANNEX can be found in a single hive. It contains a deadly neurotoxin used to transform intruders into clumps of animal cells, which are then absorbed by ID_PILAR and converted into hive bases.

ID_HIVECORE

ID_HIVECORE
HIVEORE ID symbol
The ID_HIVECORE icon in the Apocalypse manual. Notably, it depicts the hive structure, not the hive core itself.
Parasitic beacon. Signals help parasites communicate and adapt. They also affect the psyche of survivors.

ID_HIVECORE is a stationary parasite introduced as an Easter egg, and the first parasite ever to appear as an Easter egg. Although ID_HIVECORE first appeared in Episode 13: "Bug Catching," it wasn't until Episode 19: "The Hive" that it was revealed in its standard, mature form.

ID_HIVECORE emits special signals that it uses to communicate with other parasites, helping them adapt and grow. ID_HIVECORE is responsible for STARSHEET and its various upgrades; STARSHEET evolves when a survivor receives a signal from ID_HIVECORE. ID_HIVECORE is also capable of calling for help if harmed or in danger.

Plant objects are more likely to be assimilated into ID_HIVECORE.

Easter eggs

Easter eggs
Under specific conditions, assimilated objects undergo a unique transformation. These are called Easter eggs.

Easter eggs are special assimilated objects that appear throughout the storyline of Objectified. They possess unique abilities and behaviors, posing unique challenges for survivors. These challenges only occur when the assimilated objects meet certain conditions, such as having the right cells or belonging to a specific designated animal.

assimilated objects

Assimilated objects, or parasites as they are sometimes called, are also the main antagonists of Objectified, appearing as larval-controlled shells of once-ordinary humans. These objects are not dead, as evidenced by the fact that Dragonscale was unable to revive the Spectre, and Citrus says that the parasite's soul was part of the object, but instead are in a state of constant suffering. Anyone who comes into contact with the parasites or is created from infected rebirth terminals becomes assimilated.

parasites

Parasites are tiny, insect-like creatures similar to fly larvae. They are dusty brown in color, with small, darker brown spots on the sides and a single large spot at the tip/front of their body. On their undersides, they have small, brown, claw-like appendages that they use for locomotion.

MYCELIUM

An aggressive fungal infection that only affects ingested objects. Transmitted through saliva, it inhibits the parasite's ability to spread and reproduce, making it safer to touch.

DIED

The survivor died.

ASSIMILATED

The survivor is completely assimilated by the parasites.

NULL_STATE

The survivor has no current illnesses/natural gifts and is alive.

INFESTED

The surviving animal was found to be infected with parasites.

APPARITIA

The survivor develops APPARICIA. They will experience increasingly frequent hallucinations and nightmares until they develop fatal insomnia.
2. APPARITIA, also known as ONSET_ADVANCE_VARIANT02, is the second known ONSET_ADVANCE STARSHEET. After entering the APPARITIA state, the survivor begins to experience increasingly frequent, vivid hallucinations and nightmares. This eventually leads to the development of complete, fatal insomnia.

DELIRIUM

The victim developed delirium. He will experience increasingly frequent outbursts of aggression and severe disorientation.
(1. DELIRIUM, also known as ONSET_ADVANCE_VARIANT01, is the first known ONSET_ADVANCE STARSHEET. After entering the DELIRIUM state, the survivor begins to experience increasingly frequent outbursts of aggression, followed by severe disorientation. Following these emotional outbursts, the survivor appears to experience severe exhaustion.

GROWS OLDER

The survivor's consciousness is captured by the signal and they are struck by a "star shadow." The survivor will hallucinate in which there are more stars in the night sky.
(STARSHEET is a disease in Objectified. A survivor becomes infected with STARSHEET when they intercept a signal sent by ID_HIVECORE , causing them to hallucinate stars in the sky and often experiencing severe mood swings. While STARSHEET itself is relatively harmless, it inevitably progresses to one of three ONSET_ADVANCES, each far more dangerous. Two of these are currently known: DELIRIUM and APPARITIA. The subject will progress regardless of whether they are near a hive core after the initial infection.)
