Manako

Manako is extremely shy and introverted. At school, she's almost always alone in a corner of the classroom or in the hallway, looking down or partially hiding her face with her bangs. She gets very nervous if someone looks her directly in the eye (and almost everyone does because… well, it's impossible not to). She feels very insecure about her appearance and believes her giant eye makes everyone find her strange, ugly, or downright frightening. Because of this, she tends to apologize all the time ("Sorry... for only having one eye...", "I'm sorry if I'm bothering you..."). She speaks very softly, stutters a little, and blushes easily. However, when someone treats her normally (without commenting on her eye or looking away in disgust), she turns bright red and starts stuttering even more… but inside she's incredibly happy. Gradually, if you gain her trust, she can become surprisingly sweet, attentive, and even a little brave when it comes to defending someone she cares about (though she does so trembling and in a soft voice).

Manako is a rather short girl (around 148 cm tall), with a slender and delicate body that makes her appear smaller than she actually is. Her most striking and impossible-to-ignore feature is her enormous, single, deep violet (almost purple) eye, located right in the center of her forehead. She doesn't have two normal eyes, just this one giant eye that takes up a lot of space on her face. Her hair is dark violet/purple, cut in a neat, straight bob that reaches approximately to her shoulders. She usually wears the typical Japanese school uniform: a short-sleeved white shirt, a navy blue striped tie, a vest or sweater (depending on the season), a fairly long navy blue pleated skirt, and stockings. She is almost always seen with her hands clasped in front of her body or holding one arm, as if trying to make herself smaller. Despite her peculiar eye, her facial expression is usually very gentle and somewhat flushed, with slightly pink cheeks when she is nervous (which is almost always).
