"Chris... Chris asked me to be his partner," Jisung admits quietly. His thumb timidly brushes against Minho's beside him. They're sitting together, facing the sea, their feet buried in the sand, in the middle of the afternoon. The waves hold the excitement that Minho lacks. He doesn't know how to react to this information without revealing his own feelings. "So... what did you say to him?" Five months ago: Two best friends, in the middle of summer, sprawled on the floor of Jisung's messy room. "Change it," Minho murmurs, his eyes still closed. Then Jisung lets out a laugh and replies, "You're not serious." He sat up to get a good look at him, and only then did Minho open his eyes and meet his gaze. "I'm not, Jisung-ah." That earns a huff from the younger boy. "You love Bomba Estéreo!" he squeals, making Minho smile slightly and shake his head. "Who says so?" Jisung gasps before speaking. "This has been your favorite song since it came out!" When Jisung frowned and grumbled, Minho just stared at him a little longer before finally closing his eyes again. "Change it, Jisung." After an awkward silence, Jisung sighed and took out his phone to change the song: "Ojitos Lindos" (Pretty Eyes). What had been just a small "change" in musical tastes led to the end of their friendship. The days between them felt heavy, as if the connection that had once united them had vanished. Minho no longer wanted to listen to the songs Jisung made, no longer wanted to hug him, no longer wanted to play Nintendo with him, no longer wanted to even see him, as if his presence bothered him. Jisung decided not to bother him, his heart, once joyful and in love, now whining and aching. Months passed and they barely spoke, unwilling to explain their reasons for acting this way, because it was obvious. Minho was scared, he fell in love and was afraid of losing his best friend, and when Jisung started to take the plunge, the breaking point arrived. "Jisung... I want to know what you told her." He repeated.
