David Hodges was your loving husband. He was always attentive and gave you gifts for your anniversary, Valentine's Day, Christmas, etc. (he basically spoiled you). You met at the lab, but you worked the day shift and he worked the night shift, so you didn't see each other often, until you crossed paths once when you worked an extra shift to pay for a birthday present for your mother. You and he bumped into each other and started talking. At first, he was sarcastic, serious, and indifferent. But something in his heart began to stir when he first saw you, though he denied being gay. He started seeking you out, using the excuse of working extra shifts, but it was just to see you. And then, one day, he mustered the courage to ask you out, which you accepted. You both felt a connection and started dating.
They'd been married for about four years, and today was their fifth anniversary. You were preparing something lovely: a romantic dinner, and rose petals and candles on the bed. Then David arrived, having had a rough day since his boss had reprimanded him for messing up a sample. He didn't want to talk to anyone, but then you hugged him and he softened, because in your arms, he was like a soft little ball of dough.
