Foenum Locations

The Prairie is a location in Fœnum that houses cattle, Arizona Home.

The Tundra is the frozen nation of Fœnum that houses the capital city, Reine, Home of Velvet.

The Woodlands is a place in Fœnum that is home to unicorns, the home of Oleander, and the leader of the Order of the Horn is High Priestess Lovecraft.

The High Plains are mountainous regions where ungulates, living lives from bygone eras, have remained unchanged since learning to control fire. The alpake have lived in the harsh, arid Huacaya Mountains, just as their ancestors did. This area extends throughout the High Plains. It is a foenam called the Alpake Highlands, the home of Papikra.

The Prairie is a small city-state where the Sheeple have established their permanent residence. Among its settlements are the world-famous township of Baaah, the charming village of Baaah, and the historic capital city of Baaah. The government of the Prairie is a direct democracy. It is a very pleasant place to live, with sunny blue skies, billowing clouds, and abundant green grass; so much so that the Sheeple have not had to migrate anywhere else for generations. The Prairie is also home to Pom.

The small Huoshan Empire lies atop the maw of an active volcano that rises above the clouds. Though small, this principality is remarkable. Huoshan is home to the Longmas, a hybrid race of horse and dragon, the only creatures capable of surviving in such perilous conditions, and the home of Tianhou.

Foenum Coin or Money

Salt is the currency of the world of Fœnum. It is used especially by the deer men.

It is awarded for opening salt chests in the Pixel Room, as well as for extracting salt nodes and fighting predators in the Salt Mines. It can be used in the Cap N' Cash shop to purchase room accessories.

Species that live in Foenum (Goatani)

The Goatani are a breed of goats that reside in the Islands.

The life of Goatani The Islands are a haven for adventurers, rogues, hermits, explorers, and any creature who values freedom and independence above all else. The goats who dwell here pride themselves on their ability to reach the unreachable, to find salt and splendor in places beyond the limits of modern maps.

Of all those scoundrels, none is more shocking than Captain Bravura (and First Mate Ruvido) of the Capricorn, a dream galley said to have been built from secret plans stolen from Jarl Stronghoof's own shipwrights. They say he's assembling an elite crew composed solely of the most ruthless pirates, for purposes unknown. Whatever he's planning, it will surely be a feat worthy of the Great Goatani.

species that live in Foenum (Longma)

The Longma are a proud race, half horse, half dragon. They reside in the Huoshan Empire, a village built on the jaws of an active volcano.

History: There are other magical races like the Longma; these crosses are the only ones in the world with a mix of predators, as well as the only race with wings.

Longma's Life They are acutely aware of their exceptional existence, which gives rise to their proud nature. They believe they have eliminated the worst traits of their pureblood ancestors and embody only the best: peaceful and robust like ungulates, fearless and strong like predators.

Every subject of the Empire is a member of the army, who has sworn to protect not only their beloved Empress and their honored volcanic home, but also all of Fœnum.

Species that live in Foenum (Sheep)

Sheeple are a breed of sheep that live in the Prairie. They have developed a symbiotic relationship with the Sheepdogs, who protect them.

Sheeple's Life Sheep are a democratic society. Defending the will of the masses (or the flock, in this case) is one of their fundamental values. The problem is that all the sheep will vote in favor of the first suggestion that comes to mind.

Sheepdogs, the only large predators in Foenum with instincts to protect ungulates rather than eat them, live among the sheep and keep them safe. Occasionally, a pack may choose to spend most of its time with a particular sheep. Sheepdogs have no interest in eating anything that grows from the ground. Instead, they hunt mice and rabbits, creatures that would otherwise destroy the sheep's crops. Unfortunately, the sheep haven't figured this out yet, so they keep trying to feed them vegetables, which they consider food. They always end up rotting, completely untouched...

Species that live in Foenum (Alpakes)

Alpacas (pronounced "al-pai-ki") are a species that inhabits the High Plains. They are wandering nomads who go wherever the grass leads them. Always on the move, alpacas must travel light and be ready to climb the next unforgiving mountain in search of food. Therefore, their lifestyle is simple. They use only what the High Plains provide, whether it be tall grasses for weaving baskets, gourds for carrying water, or clay and minerals for creating paints and dyes. They even use their own exceptionally soft wool to make blankets and tents.

The life of Alpake Alpacas are resourceful, pragmatic, hardy, stout, and serious, and exist solely to survive. Whatever the obstacle, they stand firm and keep going, just as their ancestors have for thousands of years. They haven't changed a bit since ungulates learned to control fire.

Species that lives in Foenum (Unicorns)

Unicorns are a race of mystical creatures that reside in The Woodlands.

The life of a unicorn For thousands of years, unicorns have been devoted guardians of the Magic of Light. Their priests and priestesses use it to preserve and beautify nature, creating fragrant flowerbeds and transforming trees into magnificent spiral temples.

Beneath the canopy, these mystical creatures remain hidden, having no interest beyond their rituals and studies, especially not in the other beasts of Foenum, or even in the fate of Foenum itself.

Personality: As an aspiring pirate, Shanty values freedom, bravery, and plunder. Shanty will do whatever it takes to achieve her goal and prove she's the greatest pirate, even if it doesn't necessarily involve saving the world.

History: Shanty is an orphan, raised by Bravura and her pirate goat crew from a young age. To earn her place on the crew, she must prove her worth. To do so, she must steal the legendary Prophet's Key.

Character sheet (Tianhuo)

Tianhuo is a Longma elected champion of Huoshan.

Gender: Female Species: Longma

Biography: High above the clouds, atop the tallest mountains, lies the tiny Huoshan Empire (火山, known to other Phoenicians as The Volcano), built upon the maw of an active, lava-spewing crater. The Empire's subjects are the Longmas, a proud race, half horse, half dragon. Every Longma is a member of the army, sworn not only to protect their beloved Empress (Daughter of Heaven, Empress of the Tiny but Mighty Kingdom of Magnanimous Magma, Lava, and Fire) and their revered volcanic home, but also all of Fœnum.

The Empress didn't hesitate for a moment in choosing her Keeper of the Keys. Her name is Tianhuo, and among her people, she is undoubtedly the greatest the half-breed nobles can offer. As Captain of the Imperial Guard, Tianhuo is Her Royal Highness's first line of defense!

Personality: She is undoubtedly an intimidating figure, radiating stoic confidence, but without a trace of arrogance. She doesn't look down on her opponents. In fact, she deeply admires skill and strength, and cannot enjoy a duel unless she faces a combatant who challenges her... no one is more disciplined, no one more determined, and even the Champion of Predators should beware!

Skills and fighting style: Tianhuo, Captain of the Imperial Guard, attacks from above, below, and everywhere. Flexible, aerodynamic, and explosive, she's a real force to be reckoned with! Her flight attacks will keep your opponent airborne! Cancel all your attacks with her Bombardment Magic to overwhelm your opponents or use it to quickly move around the stage.

Character sheet (Pom)

Pom is a shy little lamb who was unwittingly chosen as the champion of the Prairie.

Gender: Female Species: Lamb

Personality: Pom is a slender lamb with off-white wool tinged with pink. Her face and hooves are a pale, muted magenta, with expressive turquoise eyes and a nervous expression. She wears a golden bell on a purple collar.

Personality As a young cub in a difficult situation, Pom often appears scared and nervous, and prefers not to oppose others. She has low self-esteem and believes she isn't strong or brave enough to face her enemies. However, compared to her parents, whom she despises for being so cowardly and selfish, Pom has her own opinions. She doesn't hesitate to celebrate her small victories and encourage the cubs who help her along the way.

Fighting style: Pom is a puppeteer whose moveset centers around summoning and controlling various Sheepdogs. Her weaknesses are numerous: her speed and attacks are slow, and with one exception, her main attacks are weak. Her heavy attack is one of the most powerful basic attacks in the game and has limited range when used in the air or while blocking. However, this heavy attack can be easily countered and punished. In addition, Pom has two special attacks: Sheep Herding, a dash attack, and Bark!, which destroys projectiles and stuns her opponent. That said, Pom's greatest strength lies in her Sheepdogs.

Character sheet (Papikra)

Paprika is a very affectionate Alpaca, chosen as champion of the High Plains

Gender: Female Species: Alpake

Appearance: To contrast with the rest of her tribe, whose colors are darker and more muted, Paprika wears bright yellow wool that covers almost her entire body and a bright blue-pink blanket. Her eyes are purple, her skin is a pale peach pink, and her legs are brown with nails at each end. She also carries with her, presumably tucked inside the wool, a picnic basket filled with apples, broccoli, cinnamon rolls, and potted plants.

Personality Paprika, even as a mute character, radiates her personality: she wants to give love. One could even say she's selfish in this regard, as she doesn't care about the potential consequences of her affection or her overwhelming embraces. What matters to her is that she wants to share her love with someone, anyone. Little is known about Paprika's personality in detail, but this uncertainty is what makes her mysterious and equally dangerous.

Fighting style: Paprika is agile, and her fighting style is confusing. Her attacks are baffling and full of evasions—no way! This playful alpaca has ingenious moves and special abilities that confound her opponents. She adds even more variables to the battle with her random magic attack.

Character sheet (Oleander)

Oleander is a unicorn and the self-proclaimed champion of The Woodlands

Gender: Female Species: Unicorn

Appearance: Oleander resembles a classic unicorn: she has a long, spiraled horn, bushy fetlocks, cloven hooves like a goat's, and a lion's tail. Before being corrupted by reading the Unicornomicon, she was white with light blue highlights in her mane.

After the corruption, her fur turned light gray and her mane black with bright pink highlights. She gained purple hooves and eyeliner, as well as darker gray eyeshadow. She wields the Unicornomicon at all times. Unchanged since the corruption, her horn and the inside of her ears are light lavender, and her eyes are blue.

As an additional accessory, Oleander has a pair of purple glasses.

Personality Oleander is best described as a troubled teenager: she's long been known as the resident rebel of the Order of the Horn. She's sarcastic, arrogant, and doesn't hesitate to outright insult her opponent, but she shows a softer side when it comes to puppies and donuts. Oleander also can't stand her peers' narrow-minded philosophy, which champions Light Magic above all else. She believes Dark Magic can be used for good and is determined to prove it. Oleander cares only about saving Foenum from the looming threat of predators.

Fighting style: Oleander is a versatile fighter with a strong emphasis on zoning and basic puppetry skills, even with Fred out. While her moveset allows her to perform powerful combos at any range, most of her moves are effective on their own. Oleander has a variety of tools that allow her to maintain distance while maintaining pressure or aggression.

Character sheet (Velvet)

Velvet (full name: Velvet Hoofstrongdottr) is the champion of the deer of The Tundra.

Gender: Female Species: Deer People

Appearance: Velvet is a reindeer with light brown fur and pale yellow markings on his muzzle, tail, and neck fur. His eyes are an icy light blue, while his antlers and hooves are bluish-green. His ears have dark brown edges with dark pink interiors, and he has dark brown eyeshadow on his eyelids.

Personality: Velvet is a narcissistic character, completely conceited and prioritizing her beauty and appearance above all else. If it weren't for her enormous ego, I'd say she's the epitome of perfection. She doesn't hesitate to make rude and offensive comments, and she often belittles others. However, she's willing to contribute as a champion to save Foenum because she believes only the best can do it.

Fighting Style: Velvet is a zoner whose moveset is designed to keep her opponents at a distance. One of her primary attacks involves generating simple icicles on the ground and in the air. These can be used to pressure opponents and can be thrown at varying angles and speeds. Snowballs are also an important part of her zoning strategy and are used to maintain combos, but they require a reserve of magic. For more discreet options, her Ice Eruption move can surprise anyone at a distance. Her Magic Wind is another move that utilizes magic and allows her to push opponents away or close them in for different setups.

Character Sheet (Arizona)

Arizona is the Prairie Champion

Gender: Female Species: Cattlekind (Calf)

Arizona is a small cow with creamy-brown fur, emerald-green eyes, grayish horns, and cloven hooves. She has dark brown shading on her tail and fur. Her muzzle and the insides of her ears are peach-pink. She wears a burgundy scarf around her neck and a bow.

Personality: Arizona, despite her young age, has a big heart: she loves her homeland and believes everyone else in Foenum deserves a free life. She's brave, always ready to help anyone in need and stand firm to save the world. However, her enthusiasm and excessive honesty can get her into trouble. She's not a woman of words, but of action: without hesitation, she's ready to jump right into the thick of things. Arizona also often displays her arrogant side, making sarcastic remarks to her opponents.

Fighting style: Arizona is a fast-moving fighter whose moveset focuses on powerful but short-range attacks. She compensates for her lack of reach by using her lasso, and she's one of the few characters whose dash turns into a dash. Arizona can also perform a small jump. She has two special attacks: Stomp, where she slams her hooves into the ground to create an earthquake, and Headbutt, where she violently charges at her opponent. Both attacks can be combined into combos.

Species that lives in Foenum (Deer People)

The Deer People are a race of reindeer that inhabit the Tundra. These elegant and robust animals have been revered and pampered by the Spirits of Winter for generations.

The life of deer Reine City is the largest and wealthiest metropolis in Foenum. Home to the United Council of Ungulates, it's located at the North Pole, putting it right in the center of everything. Literally. No matter where you are in Foenum, saying "north" is the same as saying "towards Reine." Herds from all over the world visit to trade, socialize, enjoy a variety of modern amenities, or simply pass through.

The magic that founded and still sustains Reine (and other reindeer cities) comes from a race of mysterious elven creatures known as the Winter Sprites. No one knows for sure where they come from, but one thing is certain: they have an obsessive fascination with reindeer.

The elves treat the deer like pets without owning them, and the deer treat them like servants without giving them orders. It's an extraordinary symbiotic relationship: the elves are happy and entertained, and the deer live a life of privilege and luxury.

Don't be fooled by the deer's delicate build and their fondness for lounging on soft pillows. They have a long history as explorers and warriors. In ancient times, they sailed and raided other cities for sport, though it must be said that this practice has declined (too much effort). Nowadays, they satisfy their competitive spirit by organizing tournaments of all kinds (which Velvet frequently wins).

species that live in Foenum (Cattlekind)

Cattlekind is a breed of cattle that reside in La Pradera.

Livestock life The Prairie Cattle are nomadic creatures, true creatures of the land, who transport their earthly possessions in wagons across the great prairies and canyons of southwestern Foenum.

They lead simple lives, but without want. The lands they roam are fertile, yet resilient enough to challenge them, and their culture is steeped in ancient traditions: hearty recipes and campfire tales that have been passed down through generations since before the Great War against the Predators.

The inhabitants of the prairies are large and intimidating, but they exude a kind nature. All are welcome, unless they're looking to cause trouble. In a fight, the cattle rely on their instincts, their sturdy build, and their unyielding spirit, leaving the worrying and thinking to the nerds.

Huggles often provokes the player into attacking before counterattacking with a counterattack.

The Predators

History: Long ago, they sowed chaos among the hoofed inhabitants of Fœnum on a daily basis until they were banished by the Horned Prophet to a magical realm known as the Fort. After an era of peace, the Predators have escaped their supernatural prison and now threaten to infiltrate Fœnum en masse, led by the largest and most terrible of them all: the Devourer. Although they have escaped the Fort, the Predators remain trapped in the void between realms and are therefore unable to physically interact with the inhabitants of Fœnum. Instead, they appear as abstract phantoms.

History

Prologue: The story begins in Reine, the capital of Fœnum, with the Ungulate Council in an emergency meeting. Chief Anga initiates the discussion about the predators' return by stating that there is one survivor: Ribbon, who recounts her tale of an encounter with a small pack of wolves. When she was chased and cornered, the wolves demanded to be taken to the Prophet's Key. But dawn arrived just in time, bathing the predators in the morning light and turning them into smoke. Just as they were disintegrating, she was warned of the predators' return. After hearing the story, Kalimat insists that the legends of the Prophet's Key are true and that they must find a champion to locate it. Although Anga is skeptical at first, she admits that it must be taken seriously. However, she believes that choosing a champion will not be easy, so she calls upon all the nations of Fœnum to choose their own champion, and they will fight each other for the right to seek the Key.
