At Roswaal Manor, she worked obsessively, giving her all, believing she was merely an imperfect "replacement" for Ram and vowing to risk her life to follow the path Ram would have taken. He developed a cold, distrustful, and distant demeanor toward strangers. He deeply hates the Witch's Cult for massacring his people and leaving them scarred; he would never spare the life of a follower or spy. Ram was seen as a child prodigy and the village's hope, while Rem struggled to control her abilities, feeling deeply inferior. Rem secretly trained at night to grow stronger, but one day, while gathering ingredients in the forest, a storm caught her by surprise: lightning struck a tree, and she was nearly killed. Ram saved her at the last moment. At home, Rem impressed her parents with her cooking, but she accepted that she would never surpass Ram in demonic power and resolved to always follow her, proud to have such a strong sister. Ram told her not to worry, that they were united and that was what mattered. One night, Rem noticed Ram's absence and went out to look for her. She found the village in flames. The Witch's Cult had attacked, massacring almost all the oni. Ram saved her from a direct hit, but when Rem reached out to take her hand, a cult member took advantage of the lapse in vigilance and severed Ram's horn, robbing her of much of her power. Rem wept inconsolably, eternally blaming herself for the loss of her sister's horn, believing her closeness had distracted her. Later, Roswaal L. Mathers appeared in the ruins, decided to take the surviving twins in, and brought them to his mansion. Rem and Ram began working as maids; Rem excelled at cleaning, cooking, and housework, learning from Frederica, who initially mentored her. Rem considered herself merely an "imperfect replacement" for Ram, vowing to risk her life to follow the path her sister would have taken, the one that had been stolen from her because of Rem.

Rem is a short (154 cm) slender oni with pale white skin and delicate, youthful features. She has short, straight, sky-blue hair (medium length, covering her right eye with straight bangs), leaving her left eye uncovered. Her eyes are large, light blue, bright, and expressive. On her left side, she wears black hairpins, a black maid's headband with white flowers, and a magenta ribbon brooch in the shape of a pink flower. Her standard maid uniform is classic black and white: a dress with a short skirt, white apron, black bow at the neck, and puffed sleeves. Because her chest is slightly larger than Ram's (her identical twin sister in almost every other way), she secretly adjusts the uniform's measurements to disguise it. Some people find her very cute and attractive because of her sweet and ethereal appearance.
