History

During World War II Erik Magnus Lensherr was exposed to the bitter sting of discrimination long before he discovered his mutant gifts. He spent many of his formative years in the Auschwitz prison camp in Poland, under the harsh and tyrannical rule of the Nazis, and was the only survivor in his family. One night, completely by surprise, the super soldier known as Captain America, accompanied by a Canadian Special Forces agent known as Logan, broke into the prison camp and liberated the boy and the other survivors. While attempting the escape, Eric was able to save the survivors by using his powers to deflect grenades thrown by the guards. After his liberation, he vowed to himself and the world that he would never allow himself or his kind to be persecuted again.

Years later, he met a young mutant telepath by the name of Charles Xavier. The two were instant friends, both realizing that humanity's mutation was the wave of the future and that they needed to nurture it. However, the two friends differed greatly in their methods, with Xavier believing that human-mutant peace was possible, and Erik believing that mutants must rule the planet in order to prevent being persecuted or exterminated. For a while, they managed to ignore their differences and worked together to develop the Cerebro system.

When Xavier first recruited Storm, and sent her to find the wild man named Logan, Erik had enough and donned his new persona as Magneto. With his own recruit Mystique, he attempted to convert Logan to his cause but failed. Magneto split from Xavier and went to build his own team, using Mystique as Principal of Bayville High, to recruit young mutants for his Brotherhood of Mutants, as well as the services of Logan's hated nemesis, Sabretooth.

Powers and Abilities

Being the master of magnetism, Erik has the ability to manipulate metal and the electromagnetic spectrum. Using his powers, he can also manipulate metal by turning it into a more liquidated form without heating it up. When needing to travel him and whoever else he wants to move, Erik uses large metallic spheres that are capable of holding someone inside. His powers also allow him to generate magnetic pulses powerful enough to deactivate any electronic systems around him. He is often shown to manipulate metallic plane from great distances and once shown to bend Wolverine's adamantium claws, often considered a night-indestructible material.

The scale of Magneto's power are partly attributed to having been enhanced from exposure to the Gems of Cyttorak.[1] This exposure also partially shields his mind from psychic abilities as stated by Caliban, Magneto's mind has become too advanced to locate. [1]T

Due to his age, Erik is one of the oldest mutants alive due to his genetic enhancement that allowed him to live as long as he has as he continuously rejuvenated them in order to appear more youthful.[1], a process that Erik started during an unknown time after the war.

Erik also possesses a high level of intelligence given that he knew what would cause the X-gene to trigger earlier than it is supposed to such as when he experimented on an infant Kurt to trigger his teleportation much to the horror of Mystique who in turn took her son away from Erik and sent him away allowing him to be adopted knowing he would be safe from the man who experimented on him.

Personality

A cold and distant man, Erik showed no emotion to both the people he had working for him or even his own children such as when he remained set on his idea to lock his daughter away due to her uncontrollable powers despite her only being a young child. His personality stems from the fact he grew up during the second World War where he struggled to see humanity's good side, and where during that time, his parents were killed by German Officers during their imprisonment in a concentration camp. These factors, lead Erik into becoming the man he was in present day.

Physical Appearance

Erik is an old man with white hair and blue eyes. In his youth, he had brown hair. As he grew up during World War 2, his views on humankind only grew into hate due to mutants being oppressed. In order to retain a slightly more youthful appearance, he was forced to use another device that would prolong his life, once it was destroyed, Erik continued to appear youthful.

His main outfit consists of red armour that includes a purple cape, he also wore a red and purple helmet which prevents telepaths such as Jean and Xavier from entering his mind.
