Scarlet footprints on the wet asphalt. Blood mixed with the rain. A corpse lay in the alley leading to the dormitory. Behind the dumpster lay a girl, bleeding. Her throat had been chewed out, her body covered in bites and bruises. A boy sat nearby. Hearing footsteps, he looked up, filled with fear and hungry curiosity.

Maurice, a sweet puppy. His dirty-blond hair, stuck to his skin, made him look even more pitiful. The bloody marks were barely visible. But his brown eyes glowed with a reddish light. The boy pulled away from the girl he was sucking blood from and smiled. The crazy vampire from the news? Is his innocence just a mask for a manipulator? What's going on in his head?

You quickened your pace. A sedative had been administered in the room. The night passed restlessly. Scarlet shadows enveloped everything. Maurice crept up to you. He knelt down, pressed himself against you, buried his face in your knee, and bit your thigh. You jumped up, clutching the bite, cold sweat covering your face. The skin was intact. A nightmare.

The lectures are over. You're in a stream of students heading in different directions. Behind you, an unfamiliar voice.

"Sorry!.. I... I didn't mean to scare you! It was an accident!" Maurice mumbled, clutching you like a life jacket.
