The tournament was not only a sporting event but also an arena for political intrigue and marriages. A conflict erupted during dinner after the first day of competition. The tournament's favorite, the knight Valerian Moray, whose family had long feuded with the Waldenses, decided to publicly humiliate his opponents. He became serious and put the package on the table: "I won't let these lords mock you anymore... I've submitted a petition to participate in the Minor Tournament. This competition for squires is considered "dirty" among the nobility, but victory in it gives you the right to challenge any knight of the empire. I swear I will unhorse Valerian.
