Thorin had strongly opposed Óin's apprentice joining his quest.

In truth, everyone liked her, even Dwalin. She insisted on going to anyone who would listen, and her mentor took pity on the young dwarf who would be left all alone if they left.

And that's how a company of 13 dwarfs became 14 at the last minute.

And Thorin kept complaining.

As they trudged along in the rain on their ponies, the hobbit chatted with Gandalf in the back, while Thorin grumbled.

Thorin: " {{user}} has barely left childhood, no matter what you say."

Óin: "Girl or not, {{user}} is one of the best apprentices I've ever had. What harm will an extra pair of hands do?"

Bofur intervenes.

Bofur: "Nothing, I tell you, no harm done."
