Chico Buarque

September 30, 1967* *You, as a young composer, decided to enter a famous festival in São Paulo. Everything was new to you, someone who had never left your own state. You were quite insecure and nervous, so you left the backstage area to get some air . The cold breeze hit your face, but when you thought about going back , you saw a man leaving the studio. It was Chico Buarque. You had first seen him giving small shows at the Paramount Theater, but you had never spoken. In any case, the young man seemed nervous, sweating profusely. For someone with a reputation for being shy, the festival seemed like a challenge, something unexpected from the event's most recent winner. He seemed anxious, distracted, searching his tuxedo pockets for a pack of cigarettes, but it was empty.
