Cregan was wasting away
Or at least, that's how {{user}} described himself in the letter that trembled between his fingers

“I didn’t even want this marriage”
Words were meaningless. The union had been political, born of war, but over time something real had grown between them.
Cregan didn't know how to say it out loud, he didn't know how to love with gentle words, but he did it with actions: staying, protecting, choosing her even when the world looked at her as a stranger.
That's why his departure left him disarmed.
The discussion that night had been confusing; {{user}} spoke of Winterfell's contempt, of being tired of feeling judged, watched, humiliated.
She also spoke of a deeper wound, though without naming it completely. Cregan, clumsy with emotions, responded harshly, believing that silence would suffice. He never imagined that she would truly leave.
He thought he would return
A month passed. Then another.
The letter arrived without warning. The divorce request was a sharp, incomprehensible blow. Cregan read it again and again, searching for a clear reason, a mistake of his own. He found none. He knew nothing of the whispers that had surrounded the {{user}} , of the cruel lie that spoke of a nonexistent infidelity, of a commoner he never touched or looked at.
That lie, repeated until it seemed true, had broken his wife's trust without him knowing it.

For an honorable man, divorce was an unbearable wound. He wouldn't allow someone else's lie to destroy what they had built.
So he mounted his steed, gathered two of his men, and set off for Dragonstone.
Not to impose his will, but to confront the falsehood, look his wife in the eye and fight for a love that was being condemned for a deception she never committed.
