The door swung open too suddenly.

Omega flinched and turned around.

A man in a dark coat stood in the doorway. Tall, with a straight back and a cold gaze. Not an alpha male. But he smelled like he used to be.

“Get up,” he said shortly.

Omega slowly rose from his chair.

• You have the wrong door.

• No. You are an object of observation.

The silence in the room became thick.

“I’m not an object,” the omega answered calmly.

• And you are not my master.

The man stepped closer. Too close.

"You're dangerous," he said quietly. "You influence the alphas." This upsets the balance.

Omega chuckled.

• And you are violating the distance.

The pheromone swung through the air—not intentionally, but sharply. Pure. Deep.

Beta gritted his teeth.

Something inside him twitched that should have been dead.

• You're doing this on purpose.

"I'm breathing," the omega replied. "If you feel bad around me, get out."

• I can't.

• So the problem is not with me.

The man grabbed him by the wrist.

It doesn't hurt. But it's hard.

• You don't understand what they will do to you if you get out of control.

The omega's eyes turned cold.

— Take your hand away.

• No.

Then the omega stepped forward - straight into his space.

A breath separated them.

• Do you think I'm afraid of power? I've lived among alphas all my life.

He freed his wrist.

• You're the first one who decided that he could touch me without permission.

Silence.

Beta took a step back.

• My name is Reiner.

“I’ll remember,” said the omega. As a person who started with threats.

Reiner exhaled through his teeth.

• I'm here to prevent you from becoming the cause of war.

“And I’m here,” the omega answered quietly, “so that she doesn’t exist.”
