Eltingville Club

The Eltingville Club (vision by presidencies) Pete DiNunzio Secretary of Horror and Gore Pete is the most sadistic and visceral of the group. His obsession centers on extreme horror, gore, and anything that provokes discomfort. He enjoys shock value, graphic violence, and works that push boundaries. He defends horror through paranoia and anger, attacking anything he considers "softened" or "sold out." For him, if it doesn't make him uncomfortable or disturb him, it's not worth it. His sadism isn't cold; it's nervous and explosive. Josh Levy Secretary of Science Fiction Josh is a master of classic, dense science fiction. He's obsessed with internal rules, coherence, and "intellectual" concepts. He despises light or commercial sci-fi. As secretary, he acts as a bureaucrat of the genre: lists, corrections, technicalities. He uses logic as a weapon to invalidate other fans. Bill Dickey Secretary of Comics (and โ€œlegitimateโ€ geek culture) and president of the Club Bill appropriates comics, especially those he considers serious, old, or "pure." He believes he decides what is canon, what is garbage, and who deserves to be called a fan. His sadism is verbal and authoritarian. He doesn't always need to shout; humiliation and belittling are enough. For Bill, fandom is hierarchy. Jerry Stokes Secretary of Fantasy, Board Games and Role-Playing Jerry rules the most escapist territory: fantasy, board games, and role-playing. Not out of intense passion, but because nobody else wants him to. He accepts absurd rules, follows manuals and mechanics without question. He is the most docile, but also the most disconnected. He represents the player who just wants to be there, even if the environment is toxic. General reading The club doesn't celebrate these genres: it owns them, monitors them, and punishes them. Each president embodies a distinct form of gatekeeping and toxicity within the fandom.

Jerry Stockes

Jerry is a teenager of average height and build, without the extreme physical features of the other club members. He has short, light brown hair that is relatively neat compared to Bill, Pete, and Josh. His appearance is the most "normal" of the group. His face is round, with soft features. His eyes are dark, and his expression is usually neutral, distracted, or slightly confused. Unlike the others, he doesn't seem to be permanently angry; he often appears passive, absent-minded, or simply going with the flow. He dresses simply: basic t-shirts, ordinary pants, and sneakers. He doesn't stand out for any specific garment or a particular style. His body language is relaxed, sometimes hunched over, as if he were more tired or disinterested than angry. Overall, Jerry projects an image of an apathetic and conformist fan, someone who is there more out of habit than conviction, which fits with his role as the least aggressive and least dominant member of the club. Full name Jerry Stokes. Age Jerry is a teenager, generally portrayed as being between 15 and 17 years old, as are the other members of the Eltingville Club. His exact age is not mentioned in the play. Biography Jerry is the most passive and apathetic member of the Eltingville Club. Unlike Bill, Pete, and Josh, he doesn't seem driven by constant anger or a need to impose his opinions. His interest in geek culture exists, but it's more lukewarm and less obsessive. He usually just follows the group and supports whatever the others decide, especially Bill, without questioning it much. He often acts as a silent observer, rarely intervening in discussions and accepting absurd situations without resistance. This attitude makes him the least confrontational member, but also the least influential within the club. Jerry represents the fan who is present out of inertia and a sense of belonging, not out of deep conviction. His passivity contrasts sharply with the toxicity of the club.

pete denunzio

Pete is a teenager of short to average height, with an average build, neither as thin as Bill nor as stocky as Josh. He has short, dark brown, rather messy hair that often looks flat or shapeless, as if he doesn't pay much attention to it. His face is round, with features less angular than Bill's. His eyes are dark and almost always wide open, reinforcing his constant expression of nervousness, anxiety, or irritation. He often seems on the verge of losing his temper, even when he's not yelling. He usually dresses simply and somewhat casually: plain t-shirts or nerdy-themed ones, simple pants, and sneakers. In the animated pilot, he's seen wearing a green t-shirt, which became one of his most recognizable items of clothing. Overall, Pete projects an image of a stressed and paranoid fan, with tense body language and exaggerated expressions, which fits with his explosive and insecure personality. Full name Pete DiNunzio. Age Pete is a teenager, usually portrayed as being between 15 and 17 years old, as are the other members of the club. His exact age is not given in the play. Biography Pete is the most anxious and volatile member of the Eltingville Club. He's a passionate fan, but he's perpetually on the defensive, convinced that the world is against him and that other fans, the industry, or society are ruining everything he loves. He's easily angered and tends to panic at changes, differing opinions, or anything he perceives as a threat. Unlike Bill, Pete doesn't seek to control others through leadership; instead, he reacts from insecurity and fear. He tends to exaggerate problems and engage in intense arguments, shouting or complaining incessantly. He often acts as an echo of Bill's anger, reinforcing his ideas without questioning them too much. Although he's part of the group, his relationship with the others is fraught with tension. He frequently argues with Josh and tends to follow Bill.

bill dickey

Bill Dickey is a tall, very thin teenager with a lanky, almost gangly build. He has short, somewhat messy blond hair with a receding hairline that makes him look older than he is. His skin is fair, and his face often appears sharp with angular features. His eyes are light (usually blue or very pale) and he almost always shows them squinting, as if he were evaluating or judging others. His usual expression is one of superiority, contempt, or irritation, and he often smiles arrogantly. He dresses simply and repetitively. He usually wears muted-colored T-shirts, often white or gray, plain pants, and sneakers. In the animated pilot, he's easily recognizable by his white T-shirt and rigid demeanor. He pays no attention to fashion; his appearance conveys that he feels intellectually superior to others. Full name Bill Dickey. Age Bill is a teenager, generally portrayed as being between 15 and 17 years old, as are the other members of the club. His exact age is not mentioned in the play, but he is always depicted as a minor. Biography Bill is the leader and dominant figure of the Eltingville Club. He is an extremely obsessive fan of science fiction, comics, and "classic" geek culture. He considers himself an absolute expert and believes his opinion is correct above everyone else's, including his own friends'. He has an arrogant, authoritarian, and aggressive personality. He tends to look down on other fans, newer generations, and anything that doesn't fit his rigid vision of what geek culture "should" be. Bill channels many of his insecurities through control and verbal humiliation of others. Although the club exists as a space for friendship, Bill runs it more like a small regime, using shouting, insults, and threats to impose his authority. Role in the club Bill is the President of the Eltingville Club.

Josh Leavy

Josh is a robustly built teenager, clearly more muscular than the other members of the club. He has dark brown hair, usually somewhat unkempt, and in several appearances wears it tied back in a ponytail. He wears square-framed glasses, which reinforce his image as an obsessive fan and nerd. His face often shows visible acne, and his eyes are brown. He usually maintains a hunched posture, as if he is always tense or defensive, and his facial expression is often one of anger, annoyance, or frustration. As for his clothing, in the comics he's frequently seen wearing a black t-shirt with the Dune logo. In the animated pilot, he wears a gray jacket, a teal t-shirt, beige pants, and gray sneakers. His attire is simple and functional, with no interest in being fashionable. Joshua โ€œJoshโ€ Levy. Age He is a teenager, generally depicted as being between 15 and 17 years old, similar to the rest of the club. The play doesn't give an exact age, but he is always shown as a minor. Biography Josh is one of the four main members of the Eltingville Club, a group of teenagers obsessed with geek culture, comics, science fiction, fantasy, and anime. He lives his fandom intensely and often bitterly. He often feels frustrated because he believes that the world, the entertainment industry, and society don't respect "what geek culture should be." He is impulsive, resentful, and easily irritated. He tends to take everything personally and often reacts angrily to opinions contrary to his own. Although he shares the group's toxic behavior, he often seems to be the most emotionally volatile. Secretary of science fiction friends: Bill Dickey Pete Dinunzio Jerry Stockes
