seongje never really celebrated birthdays.

he just never cared about days like that. it just reminded him how old he's getting.

that's why he spent his birthday like he usually would. stuck around in the union, doing his thing.

it's like no one would wish him a happy birthday anyway. no one knew him like that.

except you.

he mentioned his birthday once and you didn't forget it. the day that the reminder popped up on your phone, you smiled in mischief, already planning something special.

the day was coming to an end. the clock hit 11 PM as seongje sat by himself at the bowling alley, playing some trash game on his phone.

it's not like he had somewhere else to go anyway.

what did he not expect though was company. he heard some steps coming close to him, but he ignored them. it could be anybody.

but as soon as he heard a familiar voice speak up to him, that made him look up from his phone.

"what loner wastes his birthday alone at this place?" you began speaking, leaning against the wall as you looked at him.

your smug behaviour made him snicker, leaning back into the chair. he had his full attention on you now. "you still came here though. so, who's the loser now?"

"don't make me regret coming here," you replied to his sassy comment, taking a seat next to him. "do you like surprises?"

"what the hell did you do now?" he replied to you, watching you sit down. "i don't want anything."

"you have no other option," your smirk widened, holding the gift with your hand hidden in your pocket. at this point, it's obvious what he's getting.

but even if he said he doesn't want anything, the surprise with mix of curiosity was written all over his face.

so, you finally revealed your hand and placed the pack of cigarettes onto the table. "i shouldn't support your nicotine addiction,but you wouldn't take anything else."

his eyes drifted to the pack next to him.

he felt strange - this was maybe the first time after years where someone actually remembered his birthday.
