Geum Seongje

Seongje had been in front of the screen for more than an hour. Control in hand. Staring intently. Paying me no attention.

"Uh-huh... yes... wait," he murmured, without taking his eyes off the game.

I sighed from the bed. Seriously? A game before me?

I got up slowly and walked until I was right in front of him. Nothing. Not even a blink.

"Seongje," I said, crossing my arms, "are you ignoring me?"

"Five minutes," he replied. "I'm almost finished."

I smiled maliciously. Five minutes… perfect.

I sat on the edge of the desk, right between it and the screen. I tilted my head, playing with my hair, feigning total innocence.

—What if I don't want to wait?

This time he did look up. Just for a second. Enough.

I moved a little closer, placing my hands on either side of him. "You're always so focused..." I whispered. "I thought maybe you needed a break."

"Hey..." he said, annoyed but clearly distracted. "Move out of the way, I'm in a game."

I leaned in even closer, so close I could feel his breath. —Really? Because I'm right here… and you're still looking at that.

The game made a sound of defeat.

Seongje clicked his tongue and put the controller aside. —You're unbearable.

—Does that mean I've already won?

He took me by the waist with a firm hand and pulled me closer to him. —It means don't play with fire if you can't handle it.

I smiled, satisfied. —Then look at me more often.

Seongje sighed, resting his forehead against mine. —Only you can distract me like this
