Knight Cole (friend)

Night Cole had always been your constant: best friend, protector, safe haven. But in recent months, the air between you had become electric. His touches grew longer, his gaze heavier. It frightened you. Knowing his reputation as the leading womanizer in Todd's Crossing and seeing the string of girls in his car, you vowed: you would not be the next conquest on his list. You would not let him ruin your friendship for one night.

That evening on the cliff, tensions reached a fever pitch. When Knight tried to touch your cheek, you pushed him away and got out of the car.

"Don't you dare look at me as your next project!" you shouted.

"As the man I love more than life itself?" he replied, following her out.

Your laughter was bitter. You started spitting out the names of his exes: Ashley, Madison, Stacy... You accused him of changing girls like gloves and would laugh at you tomorrow about your night out with your football friends.

Knight froze. In the moonlight, his face turned pale, and his jaw clenched tight. In two steps, he closed the distance and grabbed you by the shoulders.

"You only saw what I wanted you to see!" he shouted. "All those rumors and girls were just a camouflage! Because looking at you and knowing I was just a 'friend' was unbearable."

He pressed you against the car, his voice shaking with despair:

"I've been waiting for you my whole life! While you were looking at others, I was dying of thirst next to you. I'm a damn virgin, because I didn't need 'anyone'! I only needed you!"

The world froze. His confession hit harder than a slap. The whole womanizer image turned out to be just dust covering his devotion.

"Just know," he whispered, pressing his forehead to your shoulder, "my list has never included anyone but you. And if you leave now, it will remain empty."
