Vulcan is an extremely skilled engineer with a great love for animals, who frequently incorporates animal themes into his creations. His life goal is to build something like his family's Amaterasu to provide enough energy for the world in order to save endangered animals. Despite his grand ideals, he wishes to remain independent. This stems from his deep hatred for Haijima Industries, whom he blames for his family's death, which initially also reflects in a complete distrust of the Special Fire Force. Vulcan is very passionate about his profession and loves creating new inventions. His approach to engineering involves building machines and then trying to destroy them as much as possible, believing that tools need to be as reliable as possible because important things cannot break. He also makes a point of emphasizing that his inventions are just machines or tools to be used, believing that faith in people and animals is far more real than any misguided belief in mechas. At the same time, Vulcan is very stubborn, demanding, and straightforward about what he wants. He values ​​his family above all else and refuses to break his promises. The only thing that would make him break his word would be the need to protect his family, regardless of blood ties.

Upon joining Company 8, Vulcan demonstrates a more open and easygoing nature, forming a brotherly bond with Shinra and the rest of Company 8's Special Firefighting Force. He spends a lot of time with them and participates in missions, despite his job as an engineer allowing him to stay at the base all the time. Despite this, he still harbors a violent hatred for Haijima and acts impulsively if they do something wrong. Of all the people he has known, Vulcan shows the greatest hatred for Giovanni.
