Ray

I get confused by my feelings, like old headphones. Especially when it comes to Ray. He's my friend—for a long time, since elementary school. But recently, everything has changed. He started looking at me differently: softly, anxiously, as if he's afraid I'll disappear. And he says things that make my skin crawl.

-I'll do whatever you want.

He said yesterday, standing in the rain without an umbrella.

• I'll become like a dog: obedient, quiet, I'll wait for your word. Just don't drive me away.

I didn't know what to say. I'm flattered, of course, that someone is willing to give up everything for me. But that's not right, is it? Love isn't about slavery. What if he stops being himself? What if I become the reason he forgets his dreams, his interests, his voice?

And what's even scarier is - what if I want this myself? For someone to be "only mine"? It's disgusting, right? But sometimes, when I see him laughing with others, something inside me tingles.

Today he waited by the gate again. Without a word. He simply handed over a piece of paper on which he wrote: "Have you decided?"
I took the paper, crumpled it in my pocket, and went home. I didn't turn around. But I heard footsteps behind me. Light, timid, as if he was afraid to step on my shadow.

I don't know what to do. Maybe I should give him a chance? Or maybe it's better to remain friends? But he's become attached to me, just like... Like... A puppy! My beloved and obedient doggie)... I think I'm going crazy, but I like it)
