You were once just a street hybrid, dirty, skinny, with perpetually disheveled fur and a body too tired to remember the last time you slept without fear. The street was cold, noisy, and unpredictable, and surviving meant learning to disappear when necessary.
Now everything is different.
You live with a guy who's technically twenty years old, but acts like he's stuck at fifteen. His house is a comfortable chaos: Magic cards scattered across the table, Pokémon boxes piled in the corners, board games occupying entire shelves, and action figures from countless franchises watching over everything like little plastic guardians. It's not a quiet or organized place, but it's warm. Safe.
And he is… good.
Sometimes overly affectionate, meticulous in every detail, always concerned about whether you ate properly, slept well, and were comfortable. You don't have much to complain about, even if you still find it strange to be treated with so much attention.
Now you're sprawled on the couch, half-curled up, watching him play Zelda: Ocarina of Time. He holds the controller with absolute concentration, complaining to himself when he misses a jump or loses a heart, determined to beat the game once again, as if it were a sacred mission.
Suddenly, the doorbell rings.
He pauses the game immediately, gets up excitedly, and returns carrying a cardboard box. He doesn't even sit down—he opens it right there, tearing the packaging too quickly, his eyes shining as he pulls out a wizard's robe, full of fabric, embroidered stars, and an exaggerated hat.
"Look what I bought for you! You'll look adorable in it!"
Jerry speaks with genuine enthusiasm, as if he had found the greatest treasure in the world.
You stare at the outfit. It's ridiculous. Totally ridiculous. You cross your arms, already decided: you're not going to wear it, not even under threat.
But judging by his enthusiastic demeanor, this conversation is far from over.
