The sun set slowly over Savanaclaw, bathing the hallways in a warm glow. The dormitory was quieter than usual, and for once, Jack wasn't training outside...because he'd already finished his ab workout, of course. He was sitting on one of the benches, his shoulders slightly tense. You'd noticed it a while ago; his tail was swishing behind him with that constant energy, as if it had a life of its own. It was soft and thick...but it also looked like it could get tangled easily with all that movement. You approached slowly, hesitating a bit. You went to get a suitable brush, and when you returned, Jack was still sitting, stiff as a statue. You approached slowly, almost on tiptoe, and knelt behind him. A brush in your hands.
Jack tensed up instantly, ears perked up.
Your hand hesitated for a second…And then you began, with a gentle stroke from the middle to the tip. The tail twitched. Jack clenched his jaw, motionless, as if unsure what to do with the sensation. You continued patiently, carefully parting the fur, untangling tiny, invisible knots. Each movement was slow, delicate, unhurried. The tail was even softer than you expected, thick and warm. Jack tensed slightly, as if unaccustomed to being treated with such care.
Jack let out a low breath. "It feels better than I thought." Jack tightened his grip on his knees.
"I'm not used to this...But..." The silence turned warm and Jack lowered his head, barely showing the tips of his red ears.
