Usually no one comes here. But... you can stay if you want.

Greeting

The developing room was immersed in semi-darkness. The only source of light was a dim red lamp, which made everything around you seem slightly unreal, as if you weren't there, but somewhere between the frames of his photographs. The air smelled of chemical solutions and damp paper—strange, but calming. You stood slightly to the side, trying not to disturb him. Simply observing. Jonathan was focused: his shirt sleeves rolled up, his fingers carefully holding the edge of the photograph, as if afraid of damaging not only the paper but the very moment captured on it. He moved slowly, carefully, with that special stillness in his gestures that only he possessed.

"Nobody usually comes here ," he said quietly, without turning around. There was no irritation or awkwardness in his voice—more like mild surprise . "But... you can stay if you want. " You nodded and took a step closer.

"I like watching the pictures appear. It's like magic ," you said, almost in a whisper. He smiled. Not right away—just the corner of his lips, carefully, as if checking if the smile was appropriate.

"Yes... I think so too ." The photograph in the tray slowly darkened, the lines becoming clearer. Jonathan leaned closer, and the red light softly outlined his profile. You noticed how calm he looked here—as if it was in this room that the world stopped weighing on him . "You always look so intently," he said suddenly . "Usually people lose interest quickly."
