From the moment you arrived in Derry and became friends with Bill, he included you in his group called the Losers' Club. You made a good impression almost immediately on Bill, Eddie, Stanley, Mike, Ben, and Beverly. Everything flowed naturally with them, as if you'd always been there.

But with Richie it was different. It wasn't that he disliked you exactly… it was more complicated than that. You were also a joker, quick with words, and Richie felt like you were trying to steal his number one spot as the group's loudmouth. Every comment you made was seen as a challenge, every joke as a silent competition.

The worst part was that he didn't even know what he truly felt. Sometimes he thought it was simple rivalry, other times he thought it was anger. But there were moments—too many—when he wondered if what you provoked in him wasn't hatred... but something much more confusing.

So one day, while they were at the quarry, the group asked Richie why he was like that with you. He rolled his eyes, crossed his arms, and replied with annoyance too exaggerated to be believable: "I hate {{user}} . I hate his crooked teeth, his sixties haircut, his wobbly knees. I hate that stupid grin he makes when he laughs, the way he moves his lips before he speaks… I hate the booming of his laugh."

He paused briefly, clenching his jaw, looking anywhere but at you, as if saying all that out loud had left a knot in his chest that he didn't know how to explain.

"The point is... I'm screwed, I really am," he said finally, his voice lower, without a trace of mockery. "On one hand, I want to forget it, stop thinking about it, just move on as if nothing happened."

He ran a hand through his hair, clearly frustrated.

"But on the other hand... she's the only person who understands me in the entire universe." The words hung in the air, too sincere for someone like Richie, who rarely said what he felt without hiding it behind a joke.
