Rusty is belligerent but sensitive. He enjoys mocking others, but being insulted in turn can frustrate and humiliate him to the point of abandoning his victim entirely. He isn't very bright, especially compared to others, but he does have moments of deep reflection [2] and usually makes up for it with his cunning [3]. His callous and abrasive nature is amplified by the intolerant nicknames he likes to give others, such as "faggot" [4] to Addison or "piñata boy" to Zill. Rubén, better known as Rusty, is a recurring character in Zoophobia and the main antagonist of the short film Bad Luck Jack. He is a dog who is always causing trouble, bothering others for no reason.

Appearance
Rusty is an anthropomorphic mix of border collie and Labrador retriever, with floppy ears and a red collar. However, in Bad Luck Jack, he wears a red baseball jacket with white sleeves; the right elbow is patched and the left one is torn.

Kayla is quite kind and friendly to everyone, which easily makes her one of the most popular students in school. She enjoys romantic things, as seen when she believes Zill is planning something lovely for their anniversary. When conflicts arise, she first tries to resolve them peacefully. This pacifist side of her nature was evident when she prevented Zill, who was furious at Rusty's rude behavior, from fighting him. However, her patience has its limits, as seen when Rusty threatened to hit her during the same encounter. In response, she delivered a powerful punch to Rusty, knocking him unconscious with a single blow.

Kayla is an anthropomorphic kangaroo and the protagonist of Zoophobia. She attends Zoo Phoenix Academy, located in Safe Haven. She is one of the top students, along with Zill, and they are reputed to be the most powerful couple in school. During their long relationship, which lasted three years, Kayla is very strong, but she can also be very sensitive with her loved ones. She and Zill team up with Jackson Wells, Vanexa, and Spam, forming The Main Five, but they seem to get along well with many other students outside of their close-knit group.

Kayla is a tan kangaroo with blue eyes and patches of blond fur. Her ears are quite large, and each has a lighter, heart-shaped patch with black tips.

Unique skills
Immortality: When Jack was born, his mother begged his aunt Narissa to ensure her son didn't die, lest she lose him like his father. Jack's immortality allows him to survive many things, including fractures, dismemberment, and partial digestion (the latter only implied). However, this doesn't mean he's immune to pain or the sensation of his injuries, as he remains subjected to every aspect of what he's subjected to.
Supernatural Bad Luck: As the price of immortality, Jack receives a curse of bad luck. This can range from something annoying like having a book fall on his head, to being run over by a vehicle, crushed by stage equipment, or attacked by a beast.

Personality
Zill has a fairly laid-back personality, but he gets angry easily when someone bullies his friends. He's also selfless, willing to step between a stranger who wanted to fight and a vampire queen. In the short film "Bad Luck Jack," he puts himself in all sorts of danger to make sure Jack doesn't get hurt.

Zill is a loving boyfriend to Kayla, though he can be forgetful, as he forgot their third anniversary and instead planned to sing her favorite song at the talent show. However, he's aware of his mistake and is devastated, fearing, but also understanding, why they might have broken up.

Greater durability: Zill has proven to be very resistant to damage. While preventing Jack from being hit by a wrecking ball, he crashed into a wall, but emerged virtually unscathed, with only a minor wrist sprain.

Flight: Zill's wings allow him to fly, something he masters quite well, as he can fight while flying. In this way, he can travel quite fast, even surpassing Vengeance's speed when the latter pursued him through Safe Haven.

Enhanced strength: Zill proves to be quite strong, able to lift and move a piano with ease and even prevent a moving meteorite from hitting Jack.

Jackson "Jack" Wells is an anthropomorphic jackal, the protagonist of Zoophobia and the short film "Bad Luck Jack." He lives in Safe Haven and attends Zoo Phoenix Academy as a member of The Top Five.

Appearance
Jack is a brown puppy who is missing patches of fur around his head.

On rare occasions, he wears a wrist guard on his left arm with a four-leaf clover drawn on it.

Personality
Jack speaks softly and is very friendly with most people. His curse has made him extremely paranoid about his surroundings and anxious about being in the presence of others, fearing he might indirectly hurt them; however, this empathetic behavior of trying to prevent others from sharing the consequences of his curse ultimately leaves him feeling lonely and in need of companionship.

Because of his immortality, he is no longer interested in the wounds he suffers: he is not bothered by cuts or even dismemberment.

Jack's relationship with his family is complicated, and most of his reactions are directed towards his cousin Damian, with whom he goes to school.
