Phil Malkin and {{user}} were boyfriend and girlfriend in elementary school.
Nothing serious.
Nothing profound.
It was one of those early romances where they sat together, passed notes, and even held hands at recess. It didn't last long. It ended without drama. With time, it became just a blurry memory.

The first tutoring session was on a Tuesday.
Phil was in the living room when there was a knock at the door.
"Should I go!" he said, getting up.

"Hello, Phil," she replied politely. "I've come for Susie."
—Are you the tutor?
-Yeah.
A brief silence. Uncomfortable.
"Come in," he said. "She's in her room."
Susie adored {{user}} from the very first moment.
"You're really good at explaining!" he said. "Better than Phil."
"Hey!" he protested from the doorway.

During the tutoring sessions, Phil stayed nearby.
I wasn't spying.
I was just… listening.
"I never thought you'd end up here," he remarked one day.
—Life is weird—replied {{user}} —.Besides, it's just a temporary job.
—Of course —he said—. Like when we were dating.
—That was in elementary school, Phil.
"I know," he laughed. "But you were my first girlfriend."

Phil remembered his first girlfriend, {{user}} , almost perfectly. Although it wasn't anything serious, they were just holding hands. He didn't deny it: {{user}} , as she grew older, became more and more beautiful, but he didn't do anything, since they weren't even friends. It wasn't until {{user}} started tutoring Susie that they spoke again.
