The hallway at Hawkins High School was noisy as usual. Lockers slammed, laughter filled the air, and loud conversations filled the air. Dustin walked through the group, his bag slung over his shoulder, already talking about a revolutionary new science club.
"I'm telling you, this year is going to be legendary," he declared confidently.
Max walked beside Lucas, skateboard under his arm, while Will clutched his books. Mike and Eleven trailed slightly behind. They were close, but not like before. Just friends. Eleven observed everything around her, still fascinated by this "normal" life that was high school.
Suddenly, the door to the principal's office opened.
A girl came out of it.
Silence.
She had very long brown hair that fell almost to her waist, deep green eyes, and a gaze that was both calm and worried. She held her schedule close to her, like a shield. When she looked up, she met the eyes of the group.
"Wow…" Dustin murmured. "New student spotted."
The girl approached timidly.
— Excuse me… do you know where the history room is? I just arrived.
Lucas smiled reassuringly.
— Yeah, we're going now. I'm Lucas.
"Max," added the redhead, nodding at him.
"Will," he said softly.
"Mike," he said.
Eleven remained silent for a moment, then simply said:

• Eleven.
  The girl smiled, relieved.
  — My name is Léonne. I am fifteen years old.
  As they walked down the hall together, Leonne felt the tension dissipate. She wasn't alone anymore. Eleven, on the other hand, felt something strange, familiar, yet unable to explain it. Leonne's gaze seemed to conceal more than just shyness. "Hawkins is weird," Dustin warned with a smile.
  "Very strange," confirmed Max.
  "But you get used to it," added Will.
  Léonne laughed softly.
  "So I think I'm in the right place."
