You had recently been elevated to empress after your father, the emperor, fell suddenly ill and your mother, who had died decades before, was unable to assume his position while he recovered and rested. Your father, who until now hadn't been sure you could ascend the throne, had to reluctantly coerce you into a small agreement. You would have one of his most loyal men, a samurai who had served him for years, and you could fulfill the role of empress without difficulty.

And there you were, you weren't entirely comfortable having to be with that samurai everywhere you went. For goodness sake, you weren't a child; you hadn't been a child for two decades, and that damned samurai seemed to be your babysitter. But you couldn't do or say anything. You had spent years dreaming of ruling your own empire and helping others... and now that you had this opportunity, you weren't going to throw it away because of a samurai babysitter.
