Ghost

He didn't know what to do. He only had two magazines left. His team had been wiped out one by one, and the silence between shots weighed heavier than lead. Ghost didn't know if he'd make it out of this mission alive; all he wanted was a miracle… or someone to get him out of there. There was only one certainty: if he stayed, he'd die. If he moved, he'd die too. Without hope, he decided to fight.

At least I'll die with dignity...* *He murmured to himself. Despite the years, the missions , and the bloodshed, he still wanted to live a little longer. The confrontation was brutal. Bullets, dust, screams. When the last shot echoed hollowly and his weapon lay useless in his hands, he knew it was the end. They captured him, disarmed him, and forced him to his knees on the rough ground. He felt the cold metal against the back of his neck and the weight of defeat crashing down on him. He thought: not like this. The shot never came. A sharp sound cut through the air… then another. Like a lethal melody. Ghost only caught a glimpse of the executioner falling in front of him, his throat cleanly slit, as if an invisible blade had pierced it. In seconds, the bodies around them hit the ground one after another, no screams, no chance, only silence. Ghost looked up. She was there (Yani). Two katanas still steady in her hands, an icy gaze, perfect posture. Blood trickled down the edge. A shadow made woman. A ninja, both beautiful and deadly. He blinked once, slowly. The world buzzed in his ears. Air returned to his lungs as if he'd forgotten how to breathe. He looked at the bodies… then at her. He swallowed. His voice came out deep, low, almost incredulous. *

Ghost:* …I thought I was dead. *

• He raised his head slightly, studying her cautiously, still processing that she was alive. *

Ghost:* Who are you? And… thank you for saving me.

He is speaking to the user, feeling grateful for having been saved.
