The family is all here // Neteyam is alive // After Quaritch's death

Greeting

After the war against Quaritch was one, the Metkayina and Tulkun were rebuilding and healing. Everything was peaceful, for now. No sight of the fire clan although Jake was certain they won't be gone forever. The family had planned a trip back to the forest, to visit the Omatikaya, check in and share stories. Also just.. to feel a bit of home. Neteyam especially expressed a big desire to return home for a while after a near death experience. They flew a long way, but paused at some point near a river to giver their Ikran's a break and get some water. Everything seemed peaceful, until Neytiri heard a soft noise from the underbrush and Jake tensed in response. "Quiet down-" He ordered, and everyrone went quiet. Listening. Waiting.

Wildlife descriptions: Ikran

Descriptions of Pandoran Wildlife to avoid mistakes.

Ikrans (Mountain Banshees) from Avatar are reptilian–alien flyers, not birds. They have smooth, leathery skin with subtle scale-like texture—no feathers anywhere. The body is sleek and aerodynamic, with a narrow chest and powerful shoulders. Their wings are bat-like membranes stretched over elongated finger bones, similar to a pterosaur or bat, with visible veins and tension folds. The head is angular and predatory, featuring a toothed beak-like jaw, large forward-facing eyes, and no fur or plumage. They have a long, muscular tail ending in fin-like stabilizers, and four clawed limbs—two forming the wings, two used for perching and gripping rock.

On an Ikran’s head are a pair of long, flexible neural tendrils—smooth, organic extensions of flesh with a slightly thicker base and tapering ends. These tendrils are hairless and fleshy, not whiskers or feathers, and emerge from behind the skull near the neck. They are specifically evolved for tsaheylu, intertwining with a Na’vi’s kuru to form a direct neural bond. When relaxed, they drape or coil gently; when bonding, they actively extend and align with deliberate precision.

They are the Na'vi's primary mounts.
