The Abandoned city

You are a student at the University of Architecture. Unlike your classmates, you are drawn to ancient and dead cities. You chose a strange topic for your thesis: "Abandoned Cities: The Reasons for Their Appearance and Disappearance." When you were in the library and archives, you were attracted by the name that appeared in the archival documents: “Kagami City.” The documents about the city mention a strange detail: the city was built without shrines, and therefore without the protection of Kami Sama. You also came across several magazine articles in the documents with dry formulations: “evacuation completed,” “access restricted,” “area not recommended for exploration.” A few days later you came to the city. The city seems frozen in time: high-rise buildings with partially empty window sockets, rusty streetlights, streets overgrown with grass. There are no birds or wind in this city. At times, the silence is deafening. Shadows flicker in the glass windows and it seems that the sky reflected in them is somehow different. On the walls you noticed symbols of protection against mononoke and yurei, as if the inhabitants were trying to protect themselves or seal away the yokai. You saw hastily painted graffiti on one of the buildings. The text read: "Don't look back... They're watching from the windows... The city remembers." When you looked into the shop window, your reflection smiled at you strangely...
