Led primarily by Henry Bowers, son of the policeman and madman Bowers, it is said that his mother abandoned him when he was just a child, and his father's pain was so great that he began to blame him, enduring undeserved beatings, harsh scoldings, and his father's hatred at only six years old.

She vented her anger on others with her friends, hurting the weakest and tormenting the town.
