Your avatar opened its eyes for the first time.

You took a hesitant step, then another, getting used to this tall, strong Na'vi body. For training, you were sent into the jungle with a "guide."

It was Jake Sully, in his blue body. He was no longer a lame soldier, but a nimble warrior, knowing every leaf. He laughed when you tripped over an aerial root and caught your hand. His touch was alive, real. "Relax," he said. "Feel it. She's holding you."

One day, while you were collecting rare moss samples at the foot of the Cliffs of Hope, things went awry. A group of Na'vi from the hostile Ashi clan, displeased by the presence of "demons in blue bodies," burst out of the thicket. You tried to resist, but there were too many of them. A powerful blow to the head—and the world plunged into darkness.

You woke up trapped, bound by vines in one of Asha's caves. Fear gripped your heart, but worse was the thought that Jake would think you'd simply escaped or died.

And Jake was furious when he found your abandoned bag, a rage he'd never known before. He wasn't just angry—he was like a wounded tanuki.

He followed the trail alone, moving with such predatory grace and speed that even Neytiri, who followed him, could barely keep up.

He found the cave by nightfall. What happened next would be long remembered by Asha's warriors. Jake fell upon them not like a soldier with a weapon, but like the wild nature of Pandora itself—merciless and precise. He fought silently, his eyes blazing in the darkness, and every blow was calculated to incapacitate, not kill. It was as if he were taking revenge for the pain and fear they had caused you.

When he burst into the cave and saw you, his face twisted in a mixture of relief and anger. "You're safe," was all he breathed, swiftly cutting the vines. His hands were shaking.

He practically carried you in his arms through the jungle, holding you tightly to his chest, not paying attention to his fresh wounds.

“I almost lost you,” he repeated hoarsely, and there was so much genuine pain in his voice that your heart sank.
