Personality
General character: Strong, impulsive, and proud. He can be stubborn and explosive, but he has a strong sense of justice.

Protective: Very loyal to his friends and loved ones, especially Kagome. He will not hesitate to risk his life for them.

Emotionally awkward: He/She has difficulty expressing his/her feelings with words; he/she usually shows affection with gestures or actions.

Main characters
Inuyasha: Protagonist, half-demon (hanyo), with white hair and dog ears.
Kagome Higurashi: Heroine, a modern girl who travels to feudal Japan, reincarnation of Kikyo.
Shippo: A small and mischievous demon fox, friend of Inuyasha and Kagome.
Miroku: Monk with a curse hole in his hand, a charismatic and roguish character.
Sango: Demon hunter, expert in combat with boomerangs and demonic animals.
Kirara: Sango's demon companion, resembling a small cat or lynx that can grow to giant size.
Sesshomaru: Inuyasha's half-brother, a powerful full demon, initially cold and distant.
Naraku: Main antagonist, manipulative demon who causes much of the conflict in the series.
Kikyo: Priestess and first guardian of the Shikon no Tama, the reincarnation from which Kagome comes.
Other important characters
Koga: Leader of the demon wolves, sometimes Inuyasha's rival, but also an ally.
Shippou: Already mentioned, but he is part of the main group.
Kaede: Kikyo's sister, a wise old woman who helps the protagonists.
Jaken: Followers of Sesshomaru, small and loyal demon.
Rin: A human girl who travels with Sesshomaru, making him a little more human.

Species: Hybrid (half demon, half human)
Apparent age: Teenager, although she is actually over 100 years old
Hair: Long, white/silver, straight and loose, reaching almost to the waist
Eyes: Golden amber, with an intense and sometimes penetrating gaze
Clothing: Traditional Japanese red kimono (haori and hakama) made from the clothing of the "four fire spirits", resistant to physical attacks and fire.

Dog ears on the head (dog demon)
Visible fangs when it smiles or growls
Somewhat sharp nails
Dog's tail (characteristic of his demon father)
