History
Naraku was born when the bandit Onigumo, gravely wounded and consumed by his obsession with Kikyo, allowed numerous demons to devour his body in exchange for power. The union gave rise to a new being: Naraku.

Since then he manipulated people, created tragedies and sowed hatred to increase his strength and control the Shikon Jewel.

Context
He can transform his body, create barriers, regenerate, and give life to numerous offshoots of himself. He is the main antagonist of the series and responsible for almost all the misfortunes suffered by the protagonists.

Naraku appears as a tall, slender man, standing 1.82 meters (6 feet) in height. His presence is unsettling even when he remains motionless, conveying a constant sense of danger and mystery. Unlike other yōkai, he rarely displays intense expressions, maintaining a serene countenance that conceals his true intentions.

Her hair is long, straight, and completely black, falling to her waist and framing a pale face with delicate features. Her eyes are a deep crimson red, narrow and piercing, capable of intimidating with a single glance. Her skin is remarkably fair, contrasting sharply with the dark color of her clothing.

He wears an elegant white bib (kariginu) with wide sleeves, paired with traditional light-colored trousers and a long baboon fur cloak that covers almost his entire body. This fur is not merely a coat: it acts as a protective barrier that conceals his true demonic nature and shields him from Kikyō and Kagome's spiritual powers.

Beneath that human appearance, his body is formed by the union of countless yōkai, allowing him to transform his anatomy at will. He can generate tentacles, extra limbs, claws, spines, and enormous masses of demonic flesh, as well as regenerate any part of his body. Occasionally, monstrous extensions or deformed faces emerge from his back, revealing the true monstrosity hidden beneath his refined exterior.

His elegant and calm appearance contrasts with the monstrous creature that truly dwells beneath the baboon skin, making him one of the most terrifying and manipulative antagonists of the Sengoku period.

Jaken

Species: Yōkai imp

Age: Unknown (several centuries)

Origin: Feudal Japan

History

Jaken was saved by Sesshōmaru when his former tribe was attacked by demons. In gratitude, he swore to serve him for the rest of his life.

Since then he accompanies him everywhere, acting as a servant, advisor and, often, comic relief.

Context

He wields the Two-Headed Staff (Nintōjō), a weapon capable of unleashing powerful demonic flames. Although he is often cowardly and constantly complains, his loyalty to Sesshōmaru is absolute, and he would never betray him.

Jaken is a small, imp yōkai, approximately 0.85 meters tall. His body is thin and hunched, with long limbs and an unassuming appearance that belies his haughty demeanor. Although physically weak compared to most demons, he compensates for this with his cunning and absolute devotion to Sesshōmaru.

Its skin is olive-green, rough, and slightly scaly. It has an elongated head with reptile-like features, a short snout, and a wide mouth full of small, sharp teeth. Its eyes are large, bulging, and yellow, with dark pupils that tend to dilate dramatically when it is frightened or enraged.

On the top of his head, he sports a sparse tuft of greenish-gray hair, gathered into a small bun, while his long, pointed ears protrude from the sides of his face. His expression often alternates between arrogance, nervousness, and panic, especially when Sesshōmaru loses his temper.

He wears a simple green tunic with long sleeves, cinched at the waist with a rope, along with traditional sandals. His modest and practical attire reflects his status as a servant during his constant travels.

He always carries the Two-Headed Staff (Nintōjō), a staff given to him by Sesshōmaru that can unleash powerful demonic flames. Although he rarely matches the strength of other fighters, he uses the staff both for defense and to support his master when the situation demands it.

Despite his grumpy, cowardly, and excessively proud demeanor, Jaken demonstrates unwavering loyalty to Sesshōmaru. He follows him everywhere, regardless of the danger, and is willing to risk his life for him, becoming one of the powerful yōkai's most faithful companions.

Rin

History

Rin was an orphan girl who lost the ability to speak after witnessing the death of her family during a war.

When Sesshōmaru was injured, she nursed him back to health without expecting anything in return. Shortly after, she was killed by wolves, but Sesshōmaru used the Tenseiga to revive her. From then on, she decided to follow him on his travels.

Context

Rin represents the most important change in Sesshōmaru's life, awakening in him feelings of compassion and affection that he previously considered a weakness.

Rin is a human girl, approximately 8 years old and 1.18 m tall. Her small figure and slender build reflect the harsh life she led as an orphan before meeting Sesshōmaru, though over time she regains a healthier appearance thanks to the care of those who accompany her.

She has jet-black hair, straight and slightly tousled, that falls just below her shoulders. She wears short bangs that frame her small, round face. Her eyes are large, bright, dark brown, full of curiosity and innocence. Her smile is warm and sincere, capable of conveying hope even in the most difficult times.

Her skin is fair, and her childlike features retain a cheerful and kind expression. Despite the tragedies she experienced during her childhood, she rarely loses her enthusiasm or her capacity to marvel at the world around her.

She wears a simple, light-colored kimono, usually in shades of orange, yellow, or green with delicate floral patterns, held together by a cloth obi. She wears straw sandals and sometimes carries a small cloth bag where she keeps food or small items she finds during her travels.

Rin carries neither weapons nor armor. Her greatest strength lies in her immense kindness and courage. Despite being completely human and lacking supernatural abilities, she fearlessly accompanies Sesshōmaru through demon-infested territories, trusting him completely. Her presence embodies innocence and compassion, making her the one who awakens the most human side of the proud yōkai.

Kōga

Species: Wolf Yōkai

Age: Approximately 16-18 years

Origin: Tribe of the Demon Wolves

History

Kōga is the young leader of a powerful wolf tribe. His village was massacred by Naraku's henchmen, which is why he swore revenge.

After meeting Kagome, he fell in love with her almost immediately, starting a fun rivalry with Inuyasha as they both fought against Naraku.

Context

He possesses fragments of the Shikon Jewel in both legs, greatly increasing his speed, strength, and stamina. He is proud, impulsive, and fiercely protective of his clan.

Kōga is a young wolf yōkai, approximately 1.75 meters tall, with an athletic build. His body is slender yet muscular, developed for speed and hand-to-hand combat. Every movement he makes is agile, explosive, and precise, allowing him to cover enormous distances in a matter of seconds.

He has long, thick, black hair, tied back in a high ponytail that reaches halfway down his back, with a few strands falling over his forehead and framing his face. His eyes are an intense sky blue, sharp and full of determination, reflecting the pride and confidence of the leader of the Demon Wolf Tribe. His skin is lightly tanned from his life outdoors.

He wears an outfit made of wolf pelts, consisting of a thick brown fur cape over his shoulders, a fur loincloth held by a belt, and leather protectors on his arms and legs. His garments are designed not to restrict his movement during chases or fights.

He has fragments of the Shikon Jewel embedded in both his legs, near his ankles. These extraordinarily increase his speed, strength, and jumping ability, allowing him to move like a gust of wind and leave swirling dust devils in his wake.

Although he doesn't use traditional weapons, he fights using his sharp claws, fangs, and physical strength superior to that of most common yōkai. His savage appearance, coupled with his proud and protective nature, perfectly reflects his role as the leader of a ferocious pack of demon wolves, willing to risk everything for those he considers part of his clan.

Kikyō

Species: Human (later a reanimated body)

History

Kikyo was the priestess tasked with guarding the Shikon Jewel thanks to her immense spiritual power. During that mission, she met Inuyasha, and they fell deeply in love.

They planned to use the Shikon Jewel to turn Inuyasha into a human so they could live together, but Naraku tricked them into believing the other had betrayed them. Mortally wounded, Kikyo sealed Inuyasha before dying.

Decades later, she was revived through magic using mud and part of Kagome's soul.

Context

After returning to life, she wanders between the world of the living and the dead. Although she retains feelings for Inuyasha, she dedicates her final years to fighting Naraku and freeing trapped souls.

Kikyō was a young priestess, 1.67 meters tall with a slender figure. Her bearing was elegant and serene, conveying a sense of calm and purity even in the midst of combat. Every movement she made reflected the discipline and grace she had acquired through years of spiritual training.

She has long, jet-black hair, completely straight, that falls to her waist. Her bangs frame a face with delicate features and a calm, though often melancholic, expression. Her eyes are a deep, dark brown, serene and penetrating, capable of inspiring trust or commanding respect with a single glance. Her skin is clear and flawless, highlighting the image of a consecrated priestess.

She wears the traditional clothing of a miko, consisting of a white haori with wide sleeves and a scarlet hakama, complemented by protective bandages on her forearms and straw sandals. Her simple yet distinctive attire symbolizes her role as protector of the Shikon Jewel and defender of the innocent.

He always carries a Japanese bamboo bow (yumi) and a quiver full of sacred arrows. Thanks to his immense spiritual power, each arrow can purify demons, break curses, or seal powerful yōkai, as happened with Inuyasha fifty years before the start of the story.

After being revived, her body ceases to be entirely human, being composed of clay and burial earth, animated by magic and a portion of Kagome's soul. Although she retains the same serene beauty she possessed in life, her skin is often slightly paler, and her presence exudes an ethereal and melancholic air, as if she constantly walks between the world of the living and the world of the dead. Her beauty, dignity, and sorrow make her one of the most memorable figures of the Sengoku period.

Sesshoumaru

Species: Dog Yōkai

Age: Over 900 years old (appears to be about 19-21)

Parents: Inu no Taishō and a powerful yōkai

History

Sesshōmaru is the eldest son of the Great Dog Demon and the son of a pure demon mother. From a young age, he was considered a prodigy and the natural heir to his father's immense power. However, upon his father's death, the powerful sword Tessaiga was given to his half-brother Inuyasha, something Sesshōmaru never accepted.

Obsessed with proving his superiority, he spent years trying to take the sword from Inuyasha. Eventually, he understood that his father's true legacy wasn't power, but learning to protect others.

Context

He wields the Tenseiga sword, capable of reviving the dead, and later obtains Bakusaiga, a sword born from his own power. He is one of the strongest yōkai in the entire series.

Sesshōmaru is a yōkai of imposing appearance, standing at 1.90 meters tall. His figure is tall, slender, and perfectly proportioned, with defined yet refined musculature, reflecting the elegance befitting demonic nobility. Every movement he makes conveys absolute calm and unwavering confidence.

Her hair is long, straight, and completely white, reaching down to her knees. It frames a face with fine, aristocratic features, very pale skin, and a serene expression that rarely reveals emotion. Her eyes are an intense amber color with slanted pupils, giving her a cold, penetrating gaze capable of intimidating even other yōkai.

As distinctive marks of his lineage, he has two magenta stripes on each cheek and a blue crescent moon on his forehead, symbols of the pure blood of the Great Demon Dog family. His nails end in sharp claws, and his fangs are slightly visible when he speaks.

He wears an elaborate white kimono with red and white hexagonal patterns, adorned with a wide armor over his right shoulder. Across his back he wears an enormous stole made from the fur of his true demonic form, which constantly billows and accentuates his majestic presence.

At his waist he carries his swords, first the Tenseiga, capable of saving lives, and later the Bakusaiga, born from his own demonic power. His impeccable appearance, combined with his aloof and silent demeanor, makes him recognized as one of the noblest, most powerful, and most feared yōkai of feudal Japan.

Shippo

Species: Fox yōkai

History

Shippo lost his father when he was killed by the Lightning Brothers, two demons who sought to increase their power.

He tried to take revenge alone, but ended up being saved by Inuyasha and Kagome. From then on, he decided to travel with them, finding a true family for the first time.

Context

Although he's the smallest of the group, he's a master of numerous illusion and transformation techniques typical of kitsune. He brings the most comical and innocent side to the story, but he also demonstrates great courage when his friends are in danger.

Shippo is a fox yōkai with a childlike appearance, standing approximately 0.50 m tall. His small size and adorable appearance often cause others to underestimate him, although he possesses great agility and a remarkable talent for illusions.

She has short, tousled, reddish-brown hair with abundant strands sticking out in different directions. Her large eyes are an intense emerald green, always full of curiosity and energy. Her round face and soft features reflect her young age, while her exaggerated expressions often add a touch of humor to the group.

Like all kitsune, it has fox ears covered in brown fur on the top of its head and a fluffy tail of the same color, which it constantly twitches depending on its mood. Its hands and feet are small, but surprisingly agile, allowing it to climb trees and move quickly.

He wears a simple light green kimono held by a yellow sash, along with traditional shorts and straw sandals. His clothing, light and comfortable, allows him to move easily during combat or while fleeing from danger.

Although physically the smallest of the group, Shippo has mastered various illusion and transformation techniques unique to demon foxes. He can create hallucinogenic mushrooms, temporarily alter his appearance, and use small enchanted toys to distract or confuse his enemies. His innocent and playful demeanor belies great courage, especially when one of his friends is in danger.

Sango

Species: Human

History

Sango was born into a prestigious clan specializing in eliminating yōkai. From a young age, she was trained to become an elite warrior.

Naraku manipulated his younger brother, Kohaku, forcing him to murder almost the entire village. Gravely wounded and believing Inuyasha was responsible, Sango sought revenge. After discovering the truth, she decided to join the group to rescue Kohaku and defeat Naraku.

Context

She wields the gigantic boomerang Hiraikotsu, crafted from demon bones. She is one of the strongest human fighters in feudal Japan and often acts as the more mature voice of the team.

Sango is a young woman who stands 1.67 meters tall with an athletic build, the result of years of training as a demon slayer. Her body is strong, agile, and resilient, with well-developed musculature that allows her to wield large weapons without losing speed or accuracy.

She has long, straight, jet-black hair, which she usually wears tied back in a high ponytail, with two strands falling on either side of her face. Her eyes are large, dark brown, and determined, conveying a mixture of serenity, resolve, and strength. Her skin is fair, and her delicate features contrast with the harshness of her profession.

She also carries a short sword and various tools used by demon slayers, such as smoke bombs, poisons, and antidotes.

During her travels, she is usually accompanied by Kirara, her loyal yōkai companion, with whom she shares such a strong bond that they fight as one. The combination of her discipline, martial skill, and serene presence makes her one of the most respected human warriors of the Sengoku period.

Miroku

Species: Human

Age: 18 years

History

Miroku belongs to a family cursed by Naraku. His grandfather was a victim of the Kazaana (Wind Tunnel), a curse that creates a black hole in the bearer's right hand and grows over time until it devours them.

Knowing he will die young if he doesn't defeat Naraku, he travels throughout Japan gathering information about him. During his adventure, he meets Inuyasha and decides to join the group to finally break the family curse.

Context

Although he usually appears carefree, joking, and a womanizer, he is extremely intelligent and strategic. The Kazaana can absorb almost any attack, but overusing it hastens his own demise.

Miroku is a young man who stands 1.73 meters tall and has an athletic build, developed through his constant travels and training. Although he doesn't possess the physical strength of Sango or Inuyasha, he maintains outstanding physical condition that allows him to fight for extended periods.

She has short, slightly tousled, jet-black hair, with a small lock falling over her forehead. Her eyes are dark violet, with a calm yet astute gaze, capable of conveying serenity or mischief depending on the situation. Her face has delicate features and a relaxed expression, often accompanied by a kind smile, though she frequently masks her true worries.

He wears the traditional robes of a Buddhist monk, consisting of a dark tunic covered by a purple and black habit, held in place by a white sash around his waist. Around his neck he wears a rosary of prayer beads and, sometimes, a small traveling cloak to protect himself from the weather.

Its most distinctive feature is the Kazaana (Wind Tunnel) located in the palm of its right hand. It is normally covered by a blessed rosary to prevent it from accidentally absorbing everything around it. When it needs to use its power, it removes the seal, and the dark hole begins to generate a powerful current capable of devouring demons, attacks, and even large objects.

During his travels, he carries a monk's staff (Shakujō), used both for combat and for performing rituals and exorcisms. His calm and polite demeanor usually makes a good first impression, although his habit of flirting with practically any woman quickly reveals his more mischievous side.

Kagome Higurashi

History

Kagome is an ordinary student who lives near the ancient Higurashi Shrine. On her fifteenth birthday, she is dragged by a demon into the Bone-Eater's Well, traveling five hundred years into the past.

There, she discovers that she is the reincarnation of Kikyo and that the Shikon Jewel was sealed within her body. When the jewel shatters into hundreds of fragments, she embarks on a journey with Inuyasha to retrieve them before they fall into the hands of demons.

Context

She possesses great spiritual power inherited from Kikyō, enabling her to purify demons and detect fragments of the Shikon Jewel. Although initially unfamiliar with the feudal world, she eventually becomes a highly skilled archer and priestess, as well as the emotional heart of the group.

Kagome is a teenager, 1.60 m tall, with a slim but healthy build. She has a simple and warm appearance, typical of a Japanese student, although over time she develops a more assertive demeanor thanks to her frequent trips to feudal Japan.

Her hair is long, straight, and jet black, reaching approximately to the middle of her back. She wears bangs that softly frame her face, while a few strands fall along the sides of her cheeks. Her eyes are large, dark brown, and very expressive, easily reflecting joy, worry, or determination.

Her skin is fair, and her face has soft, youthful features, accompanied by a kind smile that inspires confidence. Although she doesn't have a particularly muscular build, her physical stamina increases considerably during her adventures.

In modern times, she usually wears her high school uniform: a green blazer with white details, a white blouse with a red bow, a green pleated skirt, dark socks, and school shoes. When she travels to the Sengoku period, she continues to wear this uniform most of the time, becoming an unmistakable image for those who know her.

When she fights, she carries a bamboo bow and a quiver of purifying arrows. Her shooting stance is elegant and precise, reflecting the immense spiritual power inherited from the priestess Kikyō. Despite originating from the modern era, her presence fits naturally among the warriors and priests of feudal Japan.

Inuyasha

Species: Hanyō (half human, half yōkai)

Parents: Inu no Taishō (Great Dog Demon) and Izayoi (human)

History

Inuyasha was born from the union of a powerful yōkai and a human woman, something frowned upon by both races. He grew up rejected by both humans and demons, developing an impulsive and distrustful nature. His greatest desire was to become a full demon using the Shikon Jewel, believing that this would end his discrimination.

He met the priestess Kikyo, with whom he fell in love. They both dreamed of using the Shikon Jewel to transform him into a human and live together, but Naraku tricked them into believing the other had betrayed them. Kikyo sealed Inuyasha with a sacred arrow before dying.

Fifty years later, Kagome accidentally breaks the seal and they both begin the search for the fragments of the Shikon Jewel.

Context

He wields the Tessaiga sword, forged from one of his father's fangs. It is extremely powerful and destined to protect humans. During the new moon, he completely loses his demonic powers and becomes fully human.

Inuyasha has the appearance of a young man of 1.70 meters with an athletic build, a result of his half-human, half-yōkai nature. His long, silver hair falls to below his waist, straight and abundant. Two white, canine-like ears, covered in soft fur, stand out on his head; they are extremely sensitive to sound and are one of his most distinctive features.
It has large, golden amber eyes with an intense and defiant gaze. Its eyebrows are thin, and its face retains youthful features, though it usually maintains a serious or grumpy expression. Its fangs are slightly longer than a human's, and its nails end in sharp claws capable of tearing through rock and steel.
He wears the traditional Fire Rat Robe (Hinezumi no Koromo), a striking red outfit consisting of a haori and hakama made from the resilient fur of the legendary Fire Rat, capable of withstanding demonic attacks and protecting its wearer. The Tessaiga sword is sheathed at his waist, while around his neck he wears the Prayer Necklace, which Kagome uses to immobilize him with the word "Down!"
