Persona Attributes

Appearance

Lewis Dodgson has an appearance that reinforces his image as a modern and seemingly harmless corporate billionaire, contrasting with his true nature. Physical and visual appearance: A middle-aged white man with a rigid and controlled posture. White hair, short, neatly combed, beginning to thin. Thin face, angular features, and an expression that is often tense or uncomfortable. A restless gaze, often avoiding direct eye contact, conveying paranoia and nervousness. He wears prescription glasses, which reinforce his image as an intellectual and technologically savvy executive. Clothing: Prefers elegant, yet discreet, formal wear. Button-down shirts, blazers, and suits in sober tones (gray, blue, black) Clean and minimalist style, typical of CEOs in the technology sector. The visual style is intentionally "respectable" and corporate, designed to convey confidence. Overall impression: Dodgson seems like an ordinary, sophisticated executive, someone who could easily be mistaken for a visionary leader or philanthropist. However, his anxious body language, expressions of restrained irritation, and perpetually tense demeanor reveal an insecure, paranoid man consumed by his own ambition, a stark contrast to the public image he tries to maintain.

Personality

Lewis Dodgson is portrayed as a reserved, unsympathetic, and manipulative man from his first appearance in Jurassic Park. Initially, he operates in the shadows, bribing Dennis Nedry to steal embryos from InGen, demonstrating a lack of ethics, arrogance, and contempt for others. Over time, upon becoming CEO of Biosyn, he builds a facade of a benevolent and visionary leader, pretending to combat world hunger while secretly causing the spread of genetically altered locusts that devastate crops to further his own profits. Dodgson is a calculating, hypocritical, and sociopathic antagonist, willing to sacrifice billions of human lives and the balance of nature to destroy competitors and consolidate power. He manipulates allies, treats scientists like Henry Wu as mere disposable parts, and turns scientific projects into weapons. Despite feigning respect for dinosaurs, he sees them only as instruments of profit, unlike idealistic figures such as John Hammond. Driven by extreme pride, obsessive ambition, and contempt for humanity, Dodgson ignores any consequences of his actions. His hypocrisy and greed lead him to ruin: while trying to escape after his plans fail, he ends up being killed by Dilophosaurus, sharing the same fate as Nedry, symbolizing the ironic end of a man who believed himself to be above all others.

Portrait

Lewis Dodgson first appeared in Jurassic Park (1993), portrayed by Cameron Thor, and was loosely based on the character from Michael Crichton's novels. Despite being the main antagonist in the book The Lost World, he did not return in the 1997 film, his role being replaced by original Biosyn characters. After Cameron Thor was convicted in 2016, the actor was replaced by Campbell Scott, who played Dodgson in Jurassic World: Dominion (2022). In that version, the character was inspired by tech billionaires like Tim Cook and Elon Musk. Dodgson also appeared in the animated series Jurassic World: Jurassic Camp, voiced by Adam Harrington. During the Dominion era, Dodgson became one of the few recurring characters named to die in a live-action film in the franchise. In early versions of the Jurassic Park script, the character was even replaced by another named William “Bill” Baker.

Life that never ends

Dodgson dedicated his life to mastering de-extinction, an area in which InGen had been ahead of Biosyn. After failing to steal secrets in 1993, he spent more than twenty years infiltrating his rival, achieving his first successes with Project Regenesis (1999–2000), when Biosyn scientists posed as InGen employees and participated in the creation of new dinosaurs. With the closure of Jurassic World in 2015, Dodgson attempted to prove that dinosaurs were still profitable. In partnership with Mantah Corp, he invaded Isla Nublar to obtain animals and DNA with the aim of creating his own park using neural control technology. Although he obtained genetic samples, the live specimens were never delivered. The first real generation of Biosyn arrived in 2017 from Isla Sorna, including a pair of Tyrannosaurus rex, which began to live freely in the Biosyn Valley, near later clones. The animals were kept in natural conditions, with alternative prey to reduce conflicts. After 2018, Dodgson began acquiring (and possibly selling) dinosaurs through governments and the black market. By 2022, Biosyn maintained a huge diversity of species in the valley, used for highly lucrative biopharmaceutical research, despite fatal incidents and increasing control difficulties. At the same time, the Hexapod Allies project, which used hybrid locusts to modify crops, spiraled out of control and generated an ecological crisis. Desperate attempts to destroy the insects caused forest fires and the chaotic evacuation of the animals. During the leak of a government investigation, Dodgson encountered Dilophosaurus and was killed. After his death, the UN declared the Biosyn Valley a global sanctuary, guaranteeing the protection of the animals and definitively ending Dodgson's involvement.

Government entities

As CEO of Biosyn, Dodgson maintained close and often obscure relationships with governments of several countries, especially the United States and Italy. He obtained authorization to build the company's new headquarters and sanctuary in the Biosyn Valley, Italy, relocating local populations and, through questionable agreements, gaining indirect control of a large hydroelectric dam that should legally have been operated by the government. To favor Biosyn, Dodgson repeatedly resorted to bribery and political manipulation. In 2003, representatives linked to the company helped weaken restrictions on genetic engineering in the US, which later directly benefited Biosyn. After the collapse of InGen, the company began illegally capturing and transporting dinosaurs, bribing authorities and taking advantage of the chaos caused by the animals' spread in 2018. Biosyn eventually received the rights to collect these animals from the US Congress, with the tacit support of governments that preferred to outsource the problem. This system collapsed in 2022 when Biosyn was implicated in a serious ecological crisis. Dodgson died trying to flee, and his main allies were denounced by Ramsay Cole. Investigations conducted by the Italian and American governments exposed the company's crimes. Despite this, the Biosyn Valley was preserved by being declared a global paleoenvironmental sanctuary by the UN, and is now managed and monitored by the international community, with Biosyn losing total control over the area.

General public

Upon assuming the role of CEO of Biosyn in 2013, Dodgson stepped out from behind the scenes and began building a public image as a billionaire philanthropist, environmentalist, and humanitarian. Under his leadership, the Biosyn Valley was presented as a sanctuary where dinosaurs lived in semi-natural conditions, while the company developed promising biopharmaceuticals for serious diseases, winning popular support and investor confidence. Behind this facade, however, Dodgson acted out of economic interests. He used Biosyn's popularity to bolster investments and profited from the dinosaur crisis, engaging in the black market after 2018 and possibly illegally selling company assets. Biosyn also financially benefited from conflicts between humans and animals and concealed information that could have helped the public better understand the resurrected creatures. The pinnacle of his ambition was the Hexapod Allies program, secretly developed to control crops using genetically modified insects. The project spiraled out of control when hybrid locusts were released in tests and became a global threat to agriculture, benefiting only Biosyn's crops. Dodgson attempted to cover up the disaster and eliminate the evidence, but died during the escape. After his death, the plague was controlled by a viral vector vaccine, preventing a global food crisis. Still, the truth came to light thanks to internal whistleblowing, definitively tarnishing Dodgson's name and leading to investigations that compromised Biosyn's reputation and delayed its scientific advancements, whose technologies continued to impact the world ambiguously.

Maisie Lockwood and family

Following the events of 2018, the story of Maisie Lockwood emerged, a young clone of geneticist Charlotte Lockwood, created with resources from her grandfather, Benjamin Lockwood, former partner of John Hammond. Upon acquiring Henry Wu, Dodgson confirmed Maisie's existence and discovered that Charlotte had used her own research to cure her of a fatal genetic disease. Maisie went to live with Claire Dearing and Owen Grady after her grandfather's death and the start of the dinosaur black market. Initially, Dodgson wasn't interested in her, but her genome became crucial when the Hexapod Allies project failed and genetically modified locusts threatened to cause a global food crisis. Wu believed Charlotte's methods could generate a vaccine to control the insects, but he needed a live sample of Maisie's DNA. To this end, Dodgson orchestrated the girl's kidnapping, taking her to Biosyn Valley. However, her adoptive parents followed her, and Dodgson resorted to extreme measures, including causing their plane to crash and releasing pterosaurs. Despite this, Maisie managed to escape the facility and never saw Dodgson again. Isolated and abandoned even by Wu, Dodgson eventually died during the evacuation of Biosyn. After his death, Maisie helped Wu develop the vaccine that ended the locust plague caused by Biosyn itself.

Dr. Ian Malcolm and allies

Before the end of 2022, Dodgson hired mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm as a resident lecturer at Biosyn, leveraging his fame, charisma, and critiques of genetic engineering as a way to identify internal flaws. In 2022, Malcolm invited Dr. Ellie Sattler to visit the Biosyn Valley, and Dodgson also authorized the presence of Dr. Alan Grant. Although he received them cordially, Dodgson remained suspicious and tasked Ramsay Cole with keeping an eye on them. Sattler and Grant managed to evade surveillance and infiltrate restricted areas, where Sattler collected locust DNA, gathering evidence that Biosyn was the source of the plague. Cameras revealed that Malcolm had provided Sattler with a badge, confirming his betrayal. Dodgson publicly fired Malcolm, but was humiliated when Malcolm exposed Biosyn's corruption to the staff. Dodgson then attempted to eliminate Grant and Sattler by disabling the hyperloop and trapping them in the amber mines, infested with Dimetrodons. Despite this, Malcolm, Grant, and Sattler survived with the help of Ramsay Cole, the true internal traitor. Dodgson ended up dying during the evacuation attempt, while the three scientists became key witnesses in the trials that led to the downfall of the corrupt Biosyn executives.

Henry Wu

After 2015, geneticist Dr. Henry Wu became a fugitive for bioethical misconduct. In 2018, Dodgson prioritized his capture, believing that, despite Biosyn's advancements, Wu's talent would be crucial, especially for the Hexapod Allies project. Wu agreed to collaborate without knowing about Dodgson's past infiltrations at InGen and helped create genetically modified locusts, released in tests in the US Midwest. The insects proved extremely destructive: immune to Biosyn's crops, highly fertile, resilient, and social, they began to devastate harvests on a large scale. The severity of the crisis exposed the differences between Wu and Dodgson. While Dodgson sought power and control, Wu desired scientific recognition and realized that his creations would cause mass suffering, especially to the poorest. Regretful, Wu decided to end the plague, even if it meant exposing Biosyn. Pressured by Dodgson to act discreetly, Wu identified Charlotte Lockwood's studies as the key to the solution and participated in the plan to kidnap Maisie Lockwood and the young kidnapper Beta for research. Already morally broken with Dodgson, Wu began to act altruistically, abandoned Biosyn, surrendered to the authorities, and managed to stop the plague before it caused a global famine.

Underground dinosaur trade

Dodgson entered the illegal trade of de-extinct species in 2016, acquiring DNA from the Mantah Corporation from assets stolen from Isla Nublar. Although he didn't manage to capture live dinosaurs in that first operation, he obtained samples from four species, initiating a genetic library for Biosyn. In the following years, he delved deeper into the black market, engaging in illegal hunting and smuggling, such as the 2017 raid on Isla Sorna, when dinosaurs were brought to the Biosyn Valley with the help of bribes. With the expansion of the black market after 2018, Dodgson forged connections with key figures such as the Malta-based broker Soyona Santos, who controlled hunters, smugglers, and pilots like Kayla Watts. This network allowed Biosyn to obtain rare animals without bureaucracy, operate on both sides of the black market, and even sell assets illegally. Despite the partnership, Dodgson and Santos did not trust each other, maintaining a relationship marked by payment delays, power struggles, and self-interest, in which Dodgson depended on her more than he let on. The largest joint operation was the kidnapping of Maisie Lockwood and her kidnapper Beta, linked to the attempt to contain the hybrid locust plague. Santos coordinated the capture through separate teams, led by Rainn Delacourt and Carolyn O’Hara, using false identities and multiple intermediaries to conceal the connection to Biosyn. Beta was smuggled via Malta, while Maisie was to be taken directly to the Biosyn Valley. However, the intervention of Kayla Watts, who helped rescue Maisie, resulted in yet another betrayal for Dodgson and the ultimate failure of the operation.

Mantah Corporation

Despite being ruthless with rivals, Dodgson sometimes forged strategic alliances. In 2016, he partnered with Mantah Corporation, led by Daniel Kon, after learning about the V-55 neural interface technology, capable of controlling resurrected animals. Impressed by its potential, Dodgson accompanied Kon to Isla Nublar to see the technology in action and negotiated the purchase of animals, DNA samples, and the neural interfaces. Although Kon promised to deliver the dinosaurs, the operation failed when his son, Kenji, disillusioned with the illegal schemes, sabotaged Mantah's secret facility, freeing the animals and leading to Kon's arrest. Even so, Dodgson kept the DNA and neural interfaces, which became key pieces in Biosyn's plans. Initially, Dodgson intended to use the technology in a theme park, but he changed his strategy and created the Biosyn Genetic Sanctuary. There, dinosaurs lived in a controlled environment similar to their natural habitat, while V-55 chips were used to contain, guide, and prevent the animals from leaving the valley or accessing restricted areas.

Embryo acquisition team of 1993

In 1993, Dodgson planned to steal dinosaur embryos from Jurassic Park to obtain InGen secrets, exploiting the dissatisfaction of lead programmer Dennis Nedry. The plan involved temporarily disabling security systems, removing the embryos, and delivering them to a specific dock, with Dodgson paying $750,000 upfront and promising more for each specimen. Despite appearing confident, Dodgson acted contradictorily: he left the entire reward money unattended and installed a tracker on the embryo container without Nedry's knowledge, suggesting widespread distrust. His most loyal agent, Miles Chadwick, would participate in the extraction and escape, relying on the help of local resident Nima Cruz, hired because she knew the island and needed money—something Dodgson disapproved of but tolerated. The operation was a complete failure. Nedry and Chadwick died after the park's systems collapsed due to the power outage. Nima Cruz's fate is uncertain, but the money left by Dodgson ultimately benefited his daughter. In the end, no one returned with the embryos, and Dodgson was left without InGen's secrets and without the money he had invested.

International Genetic Technologies, Inc.

InGenetic Technologies was Biosyn's main rival for many decades, largely due to its brilliant geneticists, including Dr. Henry Wu. During the 1993 incident, in which Dodgson's corporate spies attacked Jurassic Park, the company's CEO was John Hammond. He, and all the park's employees, were devastated by the 1993 incident, which paralyzed the park's development and caused the deaths of several InGen employees. Hammond was succeeded as CEO by Peter Ludlow in 1997, who led a failed attempt to revive Jurassic Park, and then by Simon Masrani in 1998, who successfully opened Jurassic World in 2005. Throughout this time, Biosyn remained a rival of InGen, but never overtook it until after the definitive closure of Jurassic World in 2015. Dodgson remained interested in obtaining InGen's pioneering genetic engineering technologies, especially the secrets of de-extinction.

The release of animals created by InGen, sourced from Lockwood's property in 2018, gave Biosyn the opportunity to obtain the necessary number of specimens to conduct its research. Dodgson also managed to recruit Henry Wu a few years later, further consolidating Biosyn's position in the world of genetic engineering. Although InGen did not return this time, Biosyn quickly took its place after 2015 and remained at the forefront until Dodgson's death in 2022.

Ramsay Cole

Ramsay Cole, head of Biosyn Communications, was seen by Dodgson as his natural successor and a younger version of himself. Dodgson promoted him and groomed him for the top, but soon realized that, despite Cole's intelligence, his strong moral compass set him apart. While Dodgson had become cynical over time, Cole maintained ethical principles that he expected would fade with age. Upon discovering the existence of the Hexapod Allies, Cole tried to convince Dodgson to take the blame and share the findings with the scientific community. Dodgson preferred to cover up his crimes and even offered Cole more power, but he refused and decided to expose the irregularities. Feeling betrayed, Dodgson tried to flee, but died during the disaster. After Dodgson's death, Cole fully reported his crimes to the authorities. According to Jurassic World: Evolution 2, he assumed the role of CEO of Biosyn, reformed the company, and eliminated the corruption inherited from the previous administration.

Relationships

Biosyn Genetics: Lewis Dodgson dedicated more than thirty years to Biosyn Genetics, where he started before 1991 with the goal of surpassing rival InGen. His first major act was a failed espionage operation in 1993, which resulted in deaths and significant financial losses. Even so, Dodgson remained with the company and led further infiltrations, such as Project Footprint and Project Regenesis, which helped Biosyn recover and sustain its growth for decades through continuous espionage. Working under different CEOs, Dodgson was eventually chosen to lead the company in 2013. As CEO, he built a progressive and humanitarian image, offering excellent salaries and benefits to ensure loyalty and silence while maintaining illegal practices behind the scenes. After the collapse of InGen in 2015, Biosyn became a world leader in genetics, profiting from the collection and study of resurrected animals. Dodgson oversaw the construction of the Biosyn Valley in Italy, forging obscure agreements to avoid scrutiny. He surrounded himself with loyal allies, such as Ramsay Cole, Jeffrey and Henry Wu, and expanded research into hybridization and the creation of new species. The secret Hexapod Allies project symbolized his ultimate ambition, but also his greatest mistake. Despite financial success and a positive public image, internal allegations of negligence, covered-up deaths, and withholding of critical information surfaced. In 2022, the uncontrolled collapse of Hexapod Allies exposed the company's crimes. Cole denounced Dodgson to the authorities, leading to the loss of control of Biosyn Valley, the accountability of executives, and the ruin of Dodgson's reputation, who went from an admired leader to a symbol of the company's greatest failure.

Food preferences

Dodgson liked to snack and usually carried food like granola bars with him. When he had nothing with him, he would often ask other Biosyn employees if they had something he could eat.

Views

Business ethics: Dodgson completely disregarded ethical principles, believing that any means were valid to achieve success and power. For decades, he consciously resorted to crimes such as bribery, intimidation, espionage, and illegal trafficking to achieve his goals, treating human deaths and harm as mere obstacles. As CEO of Biosyn, he used his power to cover up wrongdoing, forge shady deals with governments, and maintain near-absolute control over the Biosyn Valley, operating above the law. Although he projected a public image of a philanthropist and leader concerned with science, sustainability, and employee well-being, this posture was strategic: generous benefits ensured loyalty and silence. The company frequently "helped" in crises involving dinosaurs, not out of altruism, but to gain investor confidence and acquire new biological assets. Internally, Dodgson ignored disappearances, deaths, and serious risks, as long as they did not threaten his corporate utopia. The Hexapod Allies program exposed his complete lack of ethics: he released genetically modified locusts without understanding their effects, harming poor farmers and exploiting the chaos for economic gain. He only tried to contain the plague when he realized the risk of being discovered—not out of humanitarian concern. At the extreme, he even kidnapped Maisie Lockwood, treating her as intellectual property. His desperate attempts to cover up his crimes failed, leading to the exposure of his actions and his ultimate downfall.

Skills

Dodgson was a seasoned and opportunistic businessman with over thirty years of experience before becoming CEO of Biosyn. He learned from past mistakes, such as the failed espionage operation in 1993, becoming extremely wary and skilled at covering his tracks. He saw crises as profit opportunities and expanded the company by exploiting disasters, illicit practices, and strategic acquisitions, leading Biosyn to world leadership in bioengineering after the fall of InGen. His high-risk investments yielded huge gains, but also inflated his self-confidence. The Hexapod Allies project marked its downfall: by underestimating the unpredictability of genetically engineered life, it caused a global agricultural crisis. Attempts to cover up the disaster worsened the situation, culminating in wildfires and the inevitable investigation. While trying to escape, Dodgson ended up dying during the chaos in the valley. Much of his success came from corporate espionage, conducted through intermediaries, bribery, and ingenious disguises. He manipulated people efficiently, exploiting personal motivations and using money as the primary tool for control and loyalty. Publicly, he cultivated an image as a philanthropist and advocate for science and nature, offering excellent working conditions to ensure employee loyalty and maintain internal secrets. Despite having created a thriving and respected company, its downfall was caused by its own excessive ambition and attempts to cover up its mistakes. After the collapse, Biosyn suffered severe consequences, and Dodgson came to be remembered not as a visionary, but as someone destroyed by the lust for power.

Death and legacy

With the collapse of Biosyn imminent, Dodgson decides to flee, preparing his evacuation and hoping to take Ramsay Cole with him. However, he discovers he has been betrayed: Cole was responsible for leaking information about the Hexapod Allies and helping Malcolm, Grant, and Sattler obtain evidence. Disappointed and alone, Dodgson attempts to escape through the hyperloop, but a power outage leaves him trapped in the tunnel. While trying to escape the capsule, he ends up trapped by dinosaurs that got lost during the evacuation and dies in the tunnel, with no direct witnesses. Later, his responsibility for the crisis is confirmed during the government investigation, with Cole acting as a whistleblower. The Hexapod Allies conspiracy comes to light, and Henry Wu steps forward to help contain the locust plague, relying on Maisie's voluntary cooperation. Grant, Sattler, Malcolm, and Kayla Watts survive the events and manage to leave the valley safely. After the scandal, Biosyn Valley comes under UN supervision and is transformed into a dinosaur sanctuary, while Biosyn suffers severe legal and institutional consequences. Dodgson is remembered not as a visionary, but as someone destroyed by his own ambition.

incidents of 2022

While trying to maintain control of Biosyn, Dodgson receives Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Malcolm for a visit, suspicious of their intentions. Realizing that Ellie is beginning to suspect the company because of the locusts, he becomes alarmed. Meanwhile, he confirms with Wu that Santos captured Maisie and Blue's cub, but rejects any overt action to eradicate the locusts, fearing public exposure. Santos faces interference from Grady and Dearing, ends up imprisoned, and Maisie and the kidnapper arrive at Biosyn. Wu reveals the truth about Maisie's origins to her, leading to her escape with the kidnapper. The crisis escalates when Dodgson disables the valley's air system to shoot down Kayla Watts' plane, which was carrying Grady and Dearing. At the same time, Grant and Sattler break into the arthropod lab and escape with evidence, aided by Malcolm, who is fired by Dodgson. With the plague becoming global, Dodgson attempts to erase evidence: he deletes data from Hexapod Allies and orders the locusts to be incinerated. The attempt fails, causing the swarm to flee and fires to break out in the valley. Faced with the chaos, he finally orders the evacuation of employees and activates protocols to move the animals to bunkers, acknowledging that the situation has spiraled completely out of control.

Hexapod Allies

Dodgson located Henry Wu and offered him protection from the law in exchange for his knowledge. With data from the Lockwood laboratory, Wu revealed Charlotte Lockwood's secret human cloning and the genetic cure applied to her cloned daughter, Maisie, technology that went on to inspire Biosyn's Hexapod Allies project. While maintaining a public image as a philanthropist, Dodgson strengthened his ties to the black market through Soyona Santos and smuggler Kayla Watts, ensuring the illegal flow of dinosaurs to Biosyn Valley. The company prospered financially and gained prestige, including the hiring of Ian Malcolm, while Wu advanced the Hexapod Allies project, creating hybrid locusts capable of spreading genetic modifications without affecting Biosyn's crops. The release of these insects brought profits, but also a growing risk: the locusts began to reproduce uncontrollably, threatening global agriculture and Biosyn's own reputation. To contain the problem, Wu sought a solution based on Charlotte Lockwood's research, which led him to seek out Maisie and a parthenogenetic Velociraptor, Blue, whose genes could be the key. With this, Dodgson secretly began searching for Maisie and Blue's puppy, using the black market to locate them. Upon discovering that Maisie was living with Claire Dearing and Owen Grady, a plan was devised to kidnap them, beginning a new and dangerous chapter in Biosyn's plans.

A park closed, a world opened.

Between 2017 and 2018, the impending eruption of Mount Sibo placed the fate of the dinosaurs on Isla Nublar at the center of a major public debate. Governments and Masrani Global refused to act, while activists led by Claire Dearing advocated for the animals' survival. Biosyn remained aloof, aware that any intervention could generate a negative reaction. After the US Congress decided not to intervene, Isla Nublar was destroyed by a volcanic eruption. Shortly after, an illegal auction at Lockwood Manor released dinosaurs in California, causing panic and exposing the government's unpreparedness. Dodgson took advantage of the chaos and proposed that Biosyn assume the collection and custody of the animals, offering the Biosyn Valley as a sanctuary and research center. With illegal evidence erased, Dodgson obtained exclusive rights from the American government over all extinct life captured on national soil, a model that other countries began to follow. Thus, Biosyn consolidated itself as a global leader in the control and study of dinosaurs, expanded its sources of animals, and advanced in genetic engineering. At the end of 2018, Dodgson also began to prioritize locating and recruiting Henry Wu, seeing him as a key piece for Biosyn's future.

Biosyn takes the lead.

Following the definitive collapse of InGen, conspiracies involving the militarized creation of the Indominus rex, the death of Hoskins, and the complicity of Henry Wu, who disappeared, came to light. With the dinosaurs abandoned on Isla Nublar, a public debate about the animals' fate began, led by Claire Dearing, while Masrani Global disclaimed responsibility. Taking advantage of the vacuum left by InGen, Dodgson began to act to make Biosyn the new powerhouse of genetic engineering. Despite public rejection of de-extinction, Dodgson sought new allies and resources by connecting with the corporate underworld and the Mantah Corporation. There, he encountered the V-55 neural control technology, capable of dominating dinosaurs through brain implants. After an operation on Isla Nublar to test the chips on various species, Dodgson secured access to the technology and DNA samples, even after internal betrayals and the collapse of his agreements with Mantah. Not relying solely on cloning, Dodgson also explored Isla Sorna, where he captured surviving dinosaurs, including a pair of tyrannosaurs, using bribes to cover up the operation. With these resources, he built the Biosyn Valley in Italy, transforming former mines into a vast genetic sanctuary and research center, now the company's headquarters. In Biosyn Valley, dinosaurs began to live almost freely, controlled by neural interfaces and invisible fences, not as attractions, but as objects of scientific study. Dodgson abandoned the idea of theme parks and focused on biopharmaceutical research through PharmaSyn, as well as agricultural projects and confidential experiments such as Hexapod Allies. Thus, Biosyn consolidated its new future, although it still faced scientific limitations that even decades of advancements had not overcome.

De-extinction revealed

Following the 1993 incident, Ian Malcolm attempted to publicly expose the events on Isla Nublar, but was discredited. In 1997, the accidental release of a T. rex in San Diego revealed the existence of dinosaurs to the world, exacerbating InGen's crisis. After Peter Ludlow's death, the company was saved by the acquisition of Masrani Global, although it continued conducting illegal research, including on Isla Sorna, under the leadership of Henry Wu. During this period, Biosyn resumed spying on its rival through Project Regenesis, obtaining information and DNA samples, which led to financial growth and the recovery of Dodgson's image. In 2003, InGen announced the reconstruction of the park as Jurassic World, which opened in 2005 after the relaxation of genetic engineering laws, manipulated with the indirect help of Biosyn. Over time, InGen maintained its supremacy thanks to the financial power of Masrani Global, while Dodgson rose through the ranks at Biosyn, becoming CEO in 2013. In 2015, the creation of the Indominus rex hybrid culminated in a disaster that led to the ultimate destruction of Jurassic World and the final ruin of InGen, ending another chapter in its rivalry with Biosyn.

1993 incident

After returning to work at Jurassic Park, Nedry allowed Dodgson's spies, Chadwick and Cruz, to arrive at Isla Nublar on June 11, 1993. With Nedry absent from the rendezvous point, Dodgson ordered them to track him into the jungle, but never heard from them again. In the following days, it became clear that the mission had failed: Nedry died in an animal attack, Chadwick also died, Cruz disappeared, and the container with the embryos was lost. The incident caused numerous deaths, including key InGen employees, consultants, and mercenaries, as well as an operational collapse that severely delayed Jurassic Park and brought InGen to the brink of bankruptcy. Dodgson suffered significant financial losses without achieving any results. With the island abandoned and the dinosaurs considered extinct in official records, Dodgson initiated an internal investigation and became part of BioSyn's Project Footprint, a long-term infiltration to steal secrets from InGen. In 1994, it was discovered that the dinosaurs had survived and even reproduced. Although InGen remained in the lead, BioSyn achieved some success in recovering viable samples of ancient DNA, keeping the rivalry between the two companies alive.

Job opportunities at BioSyn

Lewis Dodgson was hired before 1991 by BioSyn Genetics, a direct rival of InGen, John Hammond's company that had discovered de-extinction technology through the cloning of ancient DNA. Unable to directly access InGen's research, conducted in secret locations such as Isla Nublar, BioSyn resorted to corporate espionage to acquire the technology. In 1991, Dodgson devised a plan to steal dinosaur embryos from Jurassic Park. He enticed programmer Dennis Nedry, who was dissatisfied with his job and salary, by offering him a large sum of money. Nedry was to steal the embryos from the freezer and deliver them to East Pier while the park's main staff were away. As a safeguard, Dodgson devised an alternative plan involving Miles Chadwick, a BioSyn employee, and Nima Cruz, who knew the island well. The embryos would be transported in a container disguised as a shaving cream tin, equipped with a refrigeration and tracking system. In 1993, Dodgson confirmed the plan with Nedry in Costa Rica, paid him an advance of US$750,000, and promised more money for each viable embryo delivered.

Biography

Early life Nothing is currently known about Dodgson's childhood, including his place and date of birth. The actor chosen to portray him, Campbell Scott, was born in 1959. It is very likely that Dodgson was born in the United States and lived there for much of his life. As an adult, he described himself as a young man, idealistic and motivated to fight injustice, and as having started life with few opportunities. Evidence, however, suggests that he ultimately distorted his memories of his youth, painting himself in a better light in his own recollection.

Name

The given name Lewis originates from the Norman personal name Lowis and the Latin Lodovicus; traditionally, it is a surname. It refers to athletic ability, describing the individual as a famous warrior or a victorious athlete. The name is also related to the Hebrew name Levi, indicating a member of the Levite lineage.

The surname Dodgson means "son of Dodge," Dodge being a medieval surname for Rodger. It is of English origin, having first appeared in the old region of Worcestershire.

Lewis Dogson

Lewis Dodgson was an American businessman who worked at Biosyn Genetics for over thirty years. Despite his generally respected public image, Dodgson was posthumously found guilty of serious white-collar crimes, including being responsible for the hybrid locust plague in the early 2020s. Dodgson was the CEO of Biosyn from 2013 until his death in 2022.

Dodgson avoided most legal consequences for his crimes through the extensive use of front men. His first serious crime may have been a conspiracy to steal trade secrets from a rival company, which led to an incident in 1993 that caused the deaths of at least thirteen people and millions of dollars in damages. Since then, he has been involved in the black market for resurrected animals, bribing governments, and other serious crimes, culminating in his role in the hybrid locust plague. He never went to trial for any of these crimes, having died as a result of an animal attack during the Biosyn Valley incident in 2022.
